I don't know about the rest of you, but I cannot stop singing It's a Hard Knock Life and other affiliated show tunes from Annie. Meanwhile, these Missoni gum boots are The Business. You can get them on sale at gilt.com to wear on your ark. I'm holding out for black Hunter wellies though so I can match the Baby. While you're on gilt you should check out this Missoni poncho:
They've got some nice Milly frocks too.
I can't stop thinking about tablecloths.
I went to Spotlight today to look at suitable fabric to action my own fancy floor length cloth.
I quite liked this William Morris-esque pattern:
They had $15 cushions if any one's in the market. Under cushioning being the Devil's Work and All.
Whipped up a Thai beef salad with leftover roast beef
admired the way the beehive gingers are channeling Rommel and amassing a silent army.
Bought the Baby a book from Olive Home.
Say what you will about this Lion, it has very nice unchipped polish
Actioned some Baby Food.
Sorted my ironing.
Watched 3 episodes of the Magic that is season 2 of Downton (thanks Fi for sending me this- loving it sick)
And then went to collect the baby from his Final Dress Rehearsal at the Orphanage. He was very good and didn't cry. So proud. He really is Perfect.
I can't wait to wheel this frock out again. Haven't worn it in years.
This photo of my sister hidden under a mountain of cushions always makes me laugh. It's Cushion-tastic.
FF Garden's doing its best work in the rain but my hair is Not. It's so humid. It's like wading through soup.

Love your day.
ReplyDeleteTha Catses and Baby G are building an ark in our backyard as we speak. The pool is overflowing and the grass resembles a bog. I think I need high-end gumboots too, if only to hang out the washing.
So glad the Baby enjoyed his day at day care. Must be a huge relief for you. What a nice book. I think Baby G needs a Miffy.
K xx
I ordered my pink Hunter weeklies from countryattire.com. They are very reasonable a have free delivery from the UK x
ReplyDeleteOrphanage? I love it, so true! Well done, young man!
ReplyDeleteFF,
ReplyDeleteOf course he's perfect; he's yours.
oh he is so dang cute i could just die! make your own tablecloth, girl you are a smart cookie. xo janet
ReplyDeleteI hope your rain stops soon, but excited to see a pic of you and your son in matching wellies. Love the Ginger army and all your frocks - good luck with the coalface and orphanage! xxx
ReplyDeleteHave you ever checked out Martha's daughter's blog? Lots of pictures of the food made for Martha's granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteOn another note this was a great blog, a little something for everyone. Thanks FF
You need to be singing the baby tunes from Oliver and preparing him to say 'please miss can I have another bowl of gruel'.
ReplyDeleteEmily
Hope everything goes well at the coalface. My three are all(most) growed up now and I wave them off to the school bus everyday with a definite sense of relief, (17,16,12!!!!) BUT I so remember going back to work when my babies were small and it was tough.
ReplyDeleteWith the fabulous benefit of hindsight I am so glad I kept working because before you know it they (think they) don't need/want you and trust me you'll be glad you kept a bit of you for you. Don't get me wrong I work flexible hours so I'm home when they get home every day and trust me they need you much more when they are teenagers when they do when they are tiny.
I know you'll feel bad but it's fine, it will be fine and you'll be the best mum you can be whatever happens x
Gosh I'm loving those beehive gingers. Are they possum proof?
ReplyDeleteHave you checked out ASOS for Hunter Wellies? Much cheaper, especially with a code. I'm wanting the Vivienne Westwood Melissa short Wellies with tassels xx
Great post!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I found your blog, (Maggie Alderson gave you a rap on her twitter one day) very cheering as one other commentator put it.
Your decluttering updates have inspired me and my linen press and napery is all decluttered, sorted and ironed. You are right, so calming! I Love your updates each day or so and have even read most of the archives! (in a good way, not a stalky way)
Good luck with work
Meg
The UK eBay shop country attire was the cheapest place I could source Hunters. Once The Farmer saw them I had to order him a pair as he wears them for work and they are the comfiiest gum boots around - my English mother in law had a pair that lasted for 30 years....
ReplyDeleteBaby FF is so cute I am sure the day care ladies would have just snuggled him all day! So glad it went OK.
Take care.
Baby FF is just SO ADORABLE! It is so hard working and juggling the orphanage but it does get easier, promise. You are so organised which will make the world of difference. Just make sure you don't get to bed too late at night initially as it is exhausting and you don't want to get sick :)
ReplyDeleteSo funny you mentioned going to Spotlight to action tablecloths! I was thinking the same thing. There is also a "Brisbane Fabric Market" on Newmarket road which I keep meaning to pop into. I need new tablecloths and I just love the Anna and Spiro one in the photo. In my decluttering, I dusted off the old sewing machine and am trying to get to the mending pile (large) little steps.....
All the best for next week!
PPS I really love the Missoni poncho!
ReplyDeleteI am not buying anything else until I finish decluttering my wardrobe (nearly there!) My goodness I have some clothes! Think I might spacebar them and label them as follows:
- open if I lose 5 kgs
- open if I lose 10 kgs
- open if I lose....
xx
Sorry I missed you post spotlight for a pop in.
ReplyDeleteT
Ah, FF - you need to get thee to youtube and look for "Uptown Downstairs Abbey" (they play it on ABC1 after Grand Designs)... the Ab Fab girls and Kim Cattral have a giggle at Downton Abbey: HILARIOUS! You'll "Luff" it i know!
ReplyDeleteOh FF, I squealed when I saw that the colours of the Lion Book matched your tray of baby food. Accessorising has always been one of the great pleasures in life for me; I'm compulsive about it. I love it when others do it too - and I tell them so.
ReplyDeleteMy other obsession is decluttering. You've inspired me. If I don't declutter every day now, I feel anxious. I even decluttered my friend's magazine basket last night without even realising I'd done it. My eyes were glassy as I said to her, 'clutter is the devil's work'. We cracked up laughing.
Best, BB from Sydney. X
Can you send some of the old testament conditions down to Melbourne. I'm tired of having to water my pumpkins, tomatoes & watermelon twice a day.
ReplyDeleteHas baby FF read Oliver Twist to prepare him for the orphanage?
Your Spotlight seems much better than mine. Mine seems to specialise in thin overpriced printed 100% polypoplins.
Oh your little lamb will be fine with the new life he's about to embark on during the day, most of us have our first baby & resume work, they end up having a better social life than you do!! First borns ask so many questions & teach you how to be a parent, career stimulation keeps you on your toes. Mind you, i'm talking 1999 when i did it, now they just google anything you can't answer, hmmm, gorgeous reunion smooches to you both, love Posie
ReplyDeleteI have been known to action my own tablecloths, but that one really is stunning.
ReplyDeleteFor some time, I've been thinking about getting the Hunters, but wonder if I ever really would wear them. And would they be too hot for here? There's some fabulous ones out there.
TDM xx
oh your little man in his waistcoat and loafers!
ReplyDeletewith those little hands...
so sweet!
Good luck with the return to the Coalface. Baby FF will be fine, you will no doubt suffer Maternal Guilt. We all do. Once you are all used to the new routine it will be easy. Enjoy being in air con, having hot coffee, and grown ups to talk to!
ReplyDeleteDear FF,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to wish you all the best for the next chapter ~ your return to the coalface and Baby FF starting at the Orphanage ~ I am sure all will go well due to your superior organisation skills and zest for life.
Thank you for your inspirational words ~ fingers and toes crossed that you'll still be able to find the time for blogging.
Warm regards,
PPx
The first time I commented on your blog I felt intimidated by the glamour and my lack of it. But I have always had black Hunter wellies so I feel totally up there with you people in the style-stakes now. It doesn't matter that mine are covered in chicken poo, right?
ReplyDeleteHi FF, Glad to hear baby FF went well... He is so cute! Any hints on where to find shoes for little boys would be much appreciated {I hear you on your post the other day about boys clothes being so limited - I'm struggling to find things for my little Sam!} x
ReplyDeleteTablecloths are very much on my mind too. I have a heap that were my grandmothers, beautiful and embroidered but the wrong size or stained. Might keep the wrong size ones just in case, but the stained ones - I need Shannon Lush on speed dial. Any idea what to do for rust stains?
ReplyDeleteWe are up to episode 3 of Downtown Abbey too. It is being dolled out slowly at the weekly family dinner. Brother-in-law is not impressed but he is outvoted 5-1. Mind you after watching Uptown Downstairs Abbey some serious scenes are making me laugh.
