I love Swanning about the Traps. And now I have a Christmas decoration to match. My friend L found it for me! I met her at Anouk today.
This was her. She was wearing what can only be described as a Superior caftan and accessories.
I was spotted by some Fellow Bloggers. Hello Jenny and Brismod!! Thank God my polish wasn't (crosses self) chipped. I used to make sure I looked ok in public in case I ran into any ex boyfriends but these days it could be Anyone. You can read all about our meeting here. It's very funny- you will laugh like all get out!
Can't decide what to frock up in for my return to ye olde Coalface.
It's Frugal February tomorrow so today I Lived on the Edge Financially and bought this "Joy" Bamford candle. It was 40% off and it smells gorgeous.
I visited my friend M's ("Endodontist to the Stars") home to see her divine renovation (Stunning). If she ever finds this orange door missing she'll know who stole it (Me).
Had a soothing pho and salad for lunch at West End.All the Big Names came:
Prepare yourselves Emotionally, because I wore what can only be described as a Maxi Frock. Got it from Miss Henry next to Olive Home and luff it 11/10. Who doesn't love a chevron print arrangement?
Got the sudden urge to give the FF garden a Good Hard Prune. So soothing and calming. It was Out Of Control what with all the Hardcore Rain and Neglect and General Old Testament Conditions in which it grows. I'm Old School and use those manual hedge trimmer shears but I'm thinking of upgrading to electrical. For speed and ease. Thoughts?
Mum's coming up tonight. Goody.
Have you turned your mind to the Queen's Jubilee? We'll have to plan something nice and celebratory.
I looked back to see what I wore when I was last at the Coalface. Talk about a Good Hair Day (none of them in this weather). This was a heavily pregnant me frocked up in velvet Malene Birger.
Nothing says Legal Advice or Litigation like Sparkle.
Meanwhile, Niece FF's Talents know no bounds. Look at this fabulous copy of a Henri Rousseau she's produced:
If you're in the market for Missoni Homewares (I'm not. Frugal Feb and all) check out gilt.com
These are chevron-tastic. But I'm not going to lie to you. They are very 'Spensive.
I used to loathe people using "Visionary" to describe things that weren't but my new bug bear is the word "Organic" being used to describe things that are not.
My friend Lucy told me that I wouldn't be able to wear nail polish or blow dry my hair once I had a baby. Thank God she was wrong.
Enjoy your Tuesday night.
xxxxx

Purchased electric hedge trimmer for husband for Christmas. It hasn't left the box yet. In fact... hedge trimmer ..in box ...is still standing in the corner of the room where Christmas tree once stood. Chances are ... It will be still there this time next year, and hedges will be even more out of control!! Husband not a gardener. Perhaps wrong gift me thinks? I was told by somebody when pregnant that I wouldn't be able to dye my hair...seriously...what's with that line of thinking??
ReplyDeleteWe're thinking of taking a boat down the Thames for the Queen's Jubilee - just like the Sex Pistols in 1977!
ReplyDeletePS The blog is looking lovely, I've been thinking about giving mine a facelift.
ReplyDeleteI started using electrical hedge trimmers, and was going gang busters. I thought "I love Power Tools!" I thought I missed a bit, turned around and accidentally chopped the extension cord, fused the whole house-thank goodness we had one of those safety switches or I would have been electrocuted.
ReplyDeleteI have never used it again...Maybe you will be more coordinated, but I am back to ye olde hand loppers.
Take care, Renie xx
Hi Faux, lovely to meet you and L today. You looked as glamorous as ever and what a beautiful happy little baby. All the best for your return to the coal face and then even harder, your dealing with the orphanage later in the week. Hope to see you again in the future. xx
ReplyDeleteFF...you saw my cushion tweet on Twitter (if you lot are not following FF on Twitter..sort it out!).
ReplyDeleteWe are jubilee cushion twins...well almost.
Good luck for the return to The Coalface. x
You make me laugh :) caught up on all the back entries of your blog and laughed and smiled. I love the perspective you have here.
ReplyDeleteGood luck back at the Coalface tomorrow. xx
The swan is the most glam Christmas bauble ever, I want a tree with 100 swans on it now.
ReplyDeleteThe chevron maxi dress is now on my list of things to ruthlessly copy from you - love it.
Hope all goes smoothly for your tomorrow, the Fuchsiadome will miss you, but will welcome you with open arms and a cocktail when you retune from the coalface tomorrow night.
It was so great to finally meet you!! Best of luck tomorrow. Oh, I forgot to mention how much I loved your dress. Stunning on you. And your baby is really beautiful. Those eyes! xx
ReplyDeleteOrganic! I hear you, drives me mad!
ReplyDeleteMy fave was organic salt: WTF? Organic describes a carbon compound, not so much in salt! Organic processes in the workplace etc, leaves me cold! Rant over!
Enjoy your last minutes of freedom from work!
P xx
Dear P,
ReplyDeleteorganic work processes! Ha! Too funny. I think it is funny when you hear actors or designers talkin g about "organic collaborative journeys" and stuff.
What is organic salt????
Dera Brismod,
ReplyDeletewas lovely to meet you and Jenny. Take care, x
Your swan decoration is absolutely gorgeous! You must be thrilled to receive it.
ReplyDeleteLike the other ladies, I do love your navy chevron dress; the pink camera and sandals look great with it too.
All the best for coalface return!
Pics are gorgeous as usual. Inspires to me add more colour to my decor!
ReplyDeleteCheers !
Love the fuel-powered whipper snipper, love the electric hedge trimmer, but the garden gadget I love the most is my (yes, I've taken full ownership) electric blower. Superior power and ever so much fun. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteMy hair is suffering and requiring lavish amounts of GHD-ing and Macadamia Oil (giving it a go and the Moroccan a rest). It's making me feel quite down. First World problems, hey?!?
Enjoy the "Return to the Coalface".
Dear FF, have you seen the Missoni umbrella on the Outnet? http://www.theoutnet.com/intl/product/256746?cm_mmc=Email-_-FashionBuzz-_-NoPref310112-_-INTL
ReplyDeleteCouldn't help but think of you and that it would need to be considered before Frugal Feb, if at all.
All the best with your return to the Coalface. Lovely that you have your mum there to support you. :)
Eve said - I have a battery operated hedge trimmer and I love it completely. I cut a swathe through the bougainvillea on our fence line to day and it almost cut through the fence! I use WD 40 to keep the blades lubricated.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so satisfying about pruning with those giant hedge trimmers. I got out yesterday and stuck it to the azaleas, rosemary and my godawful diosma. Looks a picture of tidy now.
ReplyDeleteNiece's Rousseau effort is pretty good. I did some work with my Prep class a few years ago using these Rousseau images. If the link still works, your niece might like this website. Lots of Rousseau-ish fun to be had.

I've been actioning frugal January so I am not too sure how much longer that I can restrain myself from some shopping.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your mom, she'll be in 7th heaven playing with baby FF. My grand daughter is pure magic, I love her 24/7.
Electrical hedgers sound far too powerful to me...
I'd hire a gent to do that job if you dispense with the manual trimmers.
You look so lovely in your caftan. Now I wish I was taller so I could wear one.
Love that maxi dress!
ReplyDeleteLove your new dress! I think maxi dresses look lovely (not on me unfortunately though!)
ReplyDeleteThe swan is beautiful, your friend has such good taste in Christmas decorations :)
Organic - that bugs me too, especially at the supermarket. In Australia, we are so far behind the eight-ball with labelling. Many companies are just riding on the "Organic" wave and it is misleading.
Personally, I check for certified organic if I am seeking out something in particular or certain chemicals I avoid. You can buy cheap shampoos (for the children because they don't know) that are sulphate free etc.
Nail polishes - most do not have formaldehyde anymore, I know Essie and OPI don't as feel as some of the other nasties. I actually get an ammonia free hair colour (Organic Color Systems brand) which lasts longer than the chemical one.
Sorry - that was a long post! Good luck for today.
ps. I "may" have purchased a few items of clothing yesterday to get in before frugal February......
I'm still chortling at Jenny and Brismod's starstruck account of their chance encounter with you. Too funny. I love that they tweeted for advice before moving in....
ReplyDeleteBaby FF playing with the chopsticks is just way too cute.
And that orange door. Swoon.
So you could be half way through your first coalface day, hope its going to plan. Three cheers for Mum FF, for her helping hand.
Love your spirit and the caftan. Electric yard tools make me a little nervous - but I do point out the ones stored in the corner of the garage to anyone else who might want to give it a go! Have fun back at the Coalface (remembering my favorite line from the movie "Riding in Cars With Boys" - "Fun is what YOU bring to the party!" - those writers must have known FF!).
ReplyDeleteOrganic is a very miss-applied term these days. It should mean no pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, other hormone drugs etc used on the fruit/veg/meat. I myself look more for non-toxic than organic products.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that hair colour and nail colour should not be used while pregnant because of the toxins. I also figure if you can't use them while pregnant, we shouldn't be using them at all. Butter London is my new nail polish obsession, they claim they are 3-free so I figure they are safer and less toxic than other brands. Also have switched to the Earth Choice range of cleaning products (figure if its ok for grey water, its not as toxic for us as well) and no longer drink out of plastic bottles (even new ones - not a problem with wine and champagne!). I studied biochemistry, genetics and organic chemistry at uni which has made me much more aware of the potential nasties in our food and home products. If its natural, its generally ok. Nature has undergone 3.5 billion years of R&D after all....
the use of the word organic annoys me all the time, and i buy mostly certified organic produce (not for the name).
ReplyDeletei most dislike it when i read a menu or recipe that uses the word 'organic' for everything.
1 cup of organic flour
1/2 cup of organic orange juice
2 tbsp organic butter
1 cup of organic milk
4 organic eggs
they could say 'we recommend using organic products' and make it much easier to read.
oh well.
