100% Fuschia 100% of the Time.

Well the Leadership Showdown's come and Gone and Julia is still in Charge.
I'll miss all the drama and excellent tv coverage.

Loved watching all the Oscar Fashion. I love white sparkly things and red lippie, so this Spoke to Me:
Thought Old Gwynnie looked quite nice in this cape arrangement thingamy by Tom Ford. At first  I thought she'd had her hair cut but then I realised it was a pony. I'll never forget her Oscar speech in that pink Ralph Lauren frock back in the day (Dreaders in case you've forgotten).
This was Old School Hollywood:
This Octavia frock looked good in Real Life but doesn't photograph that well. Loved the 'do though. I didn't mind the Help but it was hardly My Week With Marilyn.
And what was with Angelina's crazy Stalk Walk to the podium and Strike a Pose Business? Anyone? Liked the dress but Girlfriend needs some Carbs Urgently. And some Sun. Come and visit Me Ang. I'll sort you out with some calories then drag you into the garden to catch some rays.
Cam's arms are muscular aren't they? Loved her diamond necklace.
Meryl looked Divine. Loved the colour, loved her hair.
And I thought Stacey looked absolutely fabulous, like a real life Barbie. I just have a spooky feeling that George might break up with her soon and it makes me sad because I love seeing her on the Red Carpet.
I wanted to love this I really did. But something held me back. She was so good as Marilyn.
Everyone dissed this Sandra dress but I thought it looked Good.
But this remains one of my All Time Favourite Oscar looks:
Wheeled out this Old chloe top the other day. Hadn't worn it since early 2010. I missed it.
Went to West End for lunch. I do luff a vermicilli noodle salad.

Had some brioche for breakfast. When Angelina Jolie comes to visit I'll offer her some too.

 Nothing else to report.
xxx
PS. I almost forgot. Ozesale has Essie polishes for $5 with free postage! I know. They're usually $20! It fits within the auspices of frugal Feb to purchase a few. Run Don't Walk People.

  1. Angelina looked way too slim for my taste.

It was a great show and so happy that Meryl got her Oscar, and I loved Colin Firth too how dapper is he?

    Your orchids look lovely!

  2. Just popped over here to see your snaps. I agree with all you said. Penelope and Gweneth were my favorites and Stacey looked nice too. You may be right about George though..

Yes, what's up with Angelina? She's just scary and her pose was ridiculous. Loved how the guys after gave her the business about it. She really could use a few baguettes !

Your blog is always a joy. Off to write my own post on the show.

  4. Hi FF, love your blog and just wanted to point out that it's Octavia Spencer, not Viola Davis, whose pic you have on here. xx

  5. Dear FF,

Another glamourous post! I won't need to watch the 'Daybreak' oscar update now on UK TV so thank you for giving me hours back this morning...I think I may have eaten Angelina's body weight in Carbs since christmas LOL!

Just getting ready to go to an auction this morning - Frugal February an all!

  6. Your garden is looking fabulous FF. I loved Michelle's orangey toned dress but maybe it was the hair colour?? Thought they all looked lovely, and I noticed Colin Firth's wife wore a cute frock with similar sleeves to your sheer black number. All very glam! Loving it all! Have a great week!

  7. With reference to young Angelina Jolie; I cannot stand that emaciated vampire look. It's not natural for your lips to be bigger than your buttocks.

  8. Gwynnie was breathtaking, I've never seen a better Oscar dress in my life, she looked so beautiful

I've only seen pics but Angelina's leg out pose looked so tarty.

  10. Dear FF

Love your blue and white chinese styled ginger jars. Are they all from Black and Spiro? I haunt my local (Canberra) chinese shops for decent blue and white but so much of it is a bit tacky and 'repro' looking. Authentic is the look I want (but not, of course, the price tag).

On another subject ... I love looking at your fashion snaps. But I have been ruminating on just how location-specific fashion is. In Canberra I just could never wear most of your clothes. Just not the weather for it here. I'm all Chanel-styled jackets, slim black pants and ballet flats. I recall that when my parents lived on the Gold Coast I would arrive wearing my Canberra clothes and shoes and my mother would despair. It all looked (to her) so heavy and formal and clumpy. But I would look at mother's gold sandles and think that if I wore them in Canberra people would assume I was a street walker. NO ONE wears gold shoes in Canberra! so fashion is very regional. Just a thought.

Lovely of you to keep posting despite the workload ... I sometimes feel you energize us, we suck you dry and give you nothing back. Hence my comments above.

  11. Oh I see you have updated Anna. I like the highlights in her hair.

  12. Beryl he was trying to use chopsticks!

Judith I got a few of the jars from Black and Spiro, some were gifts from Mum from Dig in James St and some I've had FOREVER and I can't recall where I got them from.

Clothes are very specific to local.

When i was in London about a year back I wore only black and camel, and hardly any colour.

I should action 12 mths with no clothes. I have enough. x

  15. Gwyneth was my pick for best dressed. Everyone always fawns over Angelina but I find her dress choices always dull dull dull. I for one did not enjoy seeing that silly skinny leg sticking out.. I like Essie polishes but my favourites of late have been the $2 Ulta3 ones they sell at the chemist at Paddington Central.

  20. FF,
Love the Oscar morning summary. Angelina needs to eat, clearly. I loved that the 3 gentelmen who won when she was presenting totally mocked her stance with leg out laughed and laughed. I try to imagine what it would be like to live a life where food is not even a thought...shudder and feel faint just thinking about it! Cameron is like the crazy cousin who comes to the famiy party and the whole time your worried about what she will say and do next. Not sure Jay Lo was enjoying the company. Fashion is so gographical. I live in a mountain town and own a restaurant so i can frock it up on occasion, but shoes are always a problem. Must be practical, comfortable and have to be able to move fast. Not so good for platforms, pretty little sandles and wedges....so sad.
Nick Nolte? What in the world...looked kind of scary. It was nice to have Billy crystal back
Still have not tried my Rimmel nail polish...

  23. I thought Penelope looked stunning. I thought Mila's gown was the best of the dresses, but that her makeup was too dark and heavy for the dress. I believe I'm not alone, but Meryl's dress looked to me like it had too much volume and didn't fit her right. Baby FF looks deadset handsome in blue.

  24. I agree, thought Gwyneth's dress was one of the most beautiful dresses ever. And loved the matching cape. Stunning.
    Angelina Jolie is ridiculous.

  25. Poor Angelina! But her husband sure looked good. I loved one newscaster saying that hopefully Meryl will run out of bathrobes to wear and will wear a dress next time. I think she was shocked to win but this makes up for not winning for her role as Anna W. I bow down to them all, even the dog.

  26. I dont think Helen Mirren ever gets it wrong! I have loved her since the first time I saw her in White Nights.

  27. Oh I missed everything... leadership showdown, red carpet. Thank goodness I can catch up here. Trang per chance? My favourite West End restaurant apart..... from Justine's coffee shop. I LOVE Trang's rice paper rolls. A-M xx

  28. Yay yay YAY, I knew I could count on you, FF, to notice the RIDICULOUS posing-business of Ms Jolie, THANK YOU! My husband had no idea why I was so horrified ( he was too busy being seriously worried about her and her stick-person arms - "she looks sick", he said )... What WAS she doing??? At first, I thought it was part of a scripted gag... Ugh, it was awful, I felt embarrassed for her

I too LOVED Gwynnie's get-up - stunning. And, Mila - always love her ensembles... but, I was one who didn't like Sandra Bullock's frock. She usually looks fantastic, but I thought that one did her no favours

Ah, so nice to have somewhere to discuss the Important Issues! Many of my friends couldn't care less about Visionary fashion etc

Thanks for the heads up re: Essie too

Have a great day... ( that gorgeous boy of yours too )

  29. My vote went to the very sublime Gwyneth too. Watched a little of the ceremony last night gee Billy Crystal is looking very 'smooth' these days. Shame, such a funny guy now also looks a bit funny. Beautiful floral pics, that rose is stunning.

  30. Mila was my pick, but I adore that makeup and hair (plus she is just so gorgeous). Angelina put your leg away, you look ridiculous!

Mmmm brioche, how I love it. Makes the best french toast ever.

  31. Hello FF.
This is my first comment here although i've been stalking your blog regularly for over 1.5 yrs now. Yes, be scared.
Apart from the fact that your blog is 100% fabulousness and inspires me to file my nails, I also think that your baby is beautiful.
But, I do need some 11/10 advice. Taking a cue from you, I too hope to blog about fashion, food and style, preferably as a paid (fingers crossed) intern. I have no idea whom to approach and how to go about this very intimidating task. I'm currently in my 1st year in college and am from India. I thought maybe you'd know.
    Help!
    Much Luff.
    xx

  32. Helen Mirren always looks fantastic, doesn't she. I liked Penelope Cruz and Michelle Williams. She is so cute. Not sure about Stacey - a bit shiney for me. I prefer sparkley.

Angelina has weird legs. So strange that pose.

    K xx

  33. Love your pretty breakfast china - so gorgeous. Poor Angelina will do very well to visit - she is terribly bony and her life seems weird and messy but that face ... wow, I've never seen a bad photo of her! Keep posting the pretty flowers from your garden - I'm so enjoying them! xxx

  37. Angelina Jolie is very skinny. Her right leg got a LOT of coverage in the press, but I thought it looked a bit ropey m'self *says she with the legs like little tree-trunks*

Baby is mobile! We didn't worry about putting fingers into sockets, we just showed ours how to put a plug in to a socket and he never bothered about them again.

Helen Mirren's frock is STUNNING, but then again, so is she!

  38. Oh, I wish you showed your face in your pictures because I would have loved to include your sheer top in a story I'm doing on sheer clothes for the Huffington Post!

  39. Baby FF looks so cute with the chopsticks! Loving West End Vietnamese at the moment. Even got hubby to eat rice paper rolls!

Angelina - hubby says she needs to eat a few meat pies. She was definitely going for the tramp - oh - I mean vamp look :)

I liked Sandra Bullocks dress too . I thought it looked very classy. Would love to look like Helen Mirren when I am her age. MMM bit of work to do between now and then I think! Just reintroduced myself to my joggers recently. Gosh it has been hot!

I read Cameron Diaz doesn't put too much effort into getting ready for the Oscars. I think it really shows this year - tan marks? Bit slack me thinks...
