Bright Lipstick and Other Important Things.

I read on Ole Wendy B's Blog that the New York Times has decreed that Bright Lipstick is Back.
Clearly, The NYT haven't been spending much time hanging out around these here parts because for some of Us, it never went Out.

Speaking of Colourful Things, I went to the opening of a gorgeous new shop up on Latrobe Tce called Happiness Place. It's chock full of absolutely divine home products and accessories. Run Don't Walk People!
My glamorous friend L and her gorgeous daughter S have set the whole thing up. I wish I'd taken photos of their outfits because they wore orange sequins (Orange sequins!! Jealous) and a coloured feathery arrangement respectively. I know. So Fabulous.
I wore a one shouldered sage green Halston Heritage arrangement  sourced dirt cheap from the Clearance section of the USA outnet site (God Bless you Australia Dollar and your ability to make internet shopping for High End Discounted Clobber Deadset Affordable).
Remember that song with the line "Halston. Gucci. Fiorucci"? Hummed it all night long.
Look how good the accessories are:

This morning I hotfooted it back to Anouk. The one time in living memory that I didn't go Jamie Oliver turned up. I know. Annoying.

Hooray for Black Knight purple salvia. You can't kill it with a blow torch. Handy when you're gardening in Old Testament Conditions really.
Have figured out where to buy excellent and cheap baby boy clothes- Gilt.com! If there's anything more attractive than an elbow patch on a tiny jumper I don't know what it is.
Meanwhile this little Pork Chop turns 1 this week.
I cannot believe it either.
Soon he'll be asking to borrow the car.
Our Kate looks fetching on Tatler. Despite not wearing a bright lipstick. No matter. She has the looks hair and youth to pull it all off.
xxxxxxxx
PS I just saw that I have 1111 followers on google. Isn't that spooky given the baby is about to turn 1?? Don't forget to like my facebook page by following the top left link. You know you want to.

  1. I agree FF - bright lipstick never went out. I swear I had a hot pink lipstick in my younger years (matched my ski jacket of the time) that opened so many doors; the power of that lippy was unbelievable!!!! Since then, I have always had a repertoire of bright lipsiticks to complement the neutrals and beiges. Baby FF is cute beyond words. I would give anything to have my babies at that age (my son is now 20 and my daughter 17). I had to stop at the shops this morning and talk to a mum with the cutest little girl wearing a green fairy dress. I loved those years when dress ups were the norm and a fairy dress covered all occasions! My son wore a batman cape non stop for two whole years, even though he had never seen a movie, TV episode or book on batman. I am sure you are just luffing every minute (definitely 11/10 or even I would say infinity/10!!!!). While I have a high powered and high pressure job, being a mum is the best ever.best wishes, LJD

  2. I can't believe your little boy is turning 1 this week - where has the time gone?! No doubt you have a big celebration planned. Thanks for the insight about the new shop in Paddington. I'll try and get there this week for a look - it looks fabulous. Ange

  5. I love a bright lippy too, and your friends' shop looks wonderful - I wish I could go. I'd snap up the No Whining cushion in a heartbeat!

Happy birthday to baby FF, who looks rediculously grown up. If you buy him a suit and tie you could take him to work with you - I'm sure he would give people good advice! xxx

  6. When I worked in retail, I was going to work one morning and a woman bailed me up and said 'RED LIPSTICK! AT 9AM!'....

I took it as a compliment. I have always worn bright or neon, rarely nude lipstick.

I would rather wear bright lipstick than anything else X

  9. I've embraced the bright nails but not sure I can do the bright lippy, I wish I could. Lovely post, I'm hanging for an update on the big first birthday bash. This year has gone so quickly.

  10. I loove being a mum too, it is the most rewarding thing ever! Greatest source of joy and sorrow all in one! I looove observing other's little children and trying to work out what sort of older kid they will be, I think it stems from all the child psychology I did at uni to become a teacher. I just loove the kids with 'character' and spunk!

Bright lippy doesn't work for me but a deep pinky brown does! Deep reds go well too. I tend to just stick with the same base and put different glosses (which never have enough depth of colour!) over the top, weird hey?

  11. Hi FF, my husband is Dutch and they have the loveliest tradition of congratulating the whole family on someone's birthday, so congrats to you and Mr.FF and your beautiful baby on his first birthday!Such a special time for you all. Last year on my daughter's first b/day I spent $12/kg on bananas to make her first cake and she wouldn't even eat it, maybe this year we'll try something else..have a beautiful first birthday week FF family. PS: he looks adorable in his stripes and camo arrangement!

  12. I've always loved a bright red or hot pink lipstick. And I see that the latest In Style mag has declared that 'hot-pink lips' are back! They showed Amber Heard wearing a gorgeous Nars colour called Funny Face. Very witty considering the famous 'pink' scene from that movie. Red or pink lips are always very glam. YSL always has a great selection.

  14. FF,
I gasped out loud when I saw those little boy outfits! If there is a darling boy outfit out there, I'm sure you'll find it. When my son was 3 (now 19) I dressed him for the last time in knickers (short, knee length pants) with knee socks and saddle shoes for Easter. All the older men at church loved the look - it reminded them of their youth I think. Miss those days sometimes, but my son is now a man. Just as wonderful. Life is good.

  16. At the time I started typing this there were 11 comments! OoooH!

Red lippy is something of a trademark for me. I dabbled in the pale lip, but it made me look unwell. A bright lip is an instant pick-me-up!

Happy Birthday to the gorgeous Fuchsia Baby! Congratulations to you and Mr Fuchsia - it is a milestone for the parents as much as for the baby really,

  20. I MUST have that No Whining cushion!!!!

Cannot believe the wee fella is turning one. Happy birthday when it comes, baby!!!!

Bright lipstick - yeah, why not?! I use all my cosmetics until they are DONE and don't really follow the vaguaries of makeup fashion. The new fashionable orchid mouth? Same effect can be achieved by a nice bright pink lipstick and a couple of bottles of Old Stump red wine :-D AND you won't get dark lipstick on your teeth. But your tongue WILL be dark red....

  21. I've always loved lipstick - glad to hear it's coming back into fashion, I like a tinted balm but there's nothing like lippy to feel like I am finished getting dressed.

  22. Your blog is always the first one that I read. I so look forward to catching up on what you have been up to , and how your darling boy is growing. Makes me smile. He is beyond adorable. I hope you and Mr FF have a wonderful day celebrating his birthday next week. I remember how excited I was this time last year anticipating his arrival and the first photos. xx

  23. I have always worn various shades of red lipstick, and I'm in my late 50s. Have tried to wear nude, but I always feel washed out. I need a bit of brightness, as I have dark hair and pale skin. You always look beautiful with your lipstick choices. Yay for colour !!

  31. Goly FF, the photos on that post made me dizzy. So much colour and movement. I had to hang on the the arm rests of my reproduction Eames office chair. I love the way someone with your superior hair and lustrous nails can get away with using 'Deadset' in a sentence. I'd sound and look like Kylie Mole. Deadset. Right.
