Hello Gorgeous.
When it comes to Cheesecake, I know what I am talking About, and This is the Cheesecake you want People. It is easy to make and uber comforting to eat. Trust Me. I got sick to death of actioning those messy crushed biscuit bases so I used pastry- quicker and tastier and less washing up.
I blind bake a ready made shortcrust pastry at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Make sure you line the pastry with baking paper and weight it with rice or something of that ilk. I use a non stick spring form tin. You should too- so much easier because you don't have to muck around with greasing it. The filling is 500g cream cheese, 4 eggs, 2/3 sugar, the juice of a lime, a pinch of salt and vanilla essence. Bake this at 170 degrees for 45 minutes and Hey Presto, you have the Cheesecake of your Dreams. Refrigerate and Enjoy.
Let's Turn Our thoughts to Polish Now.
I'm loving a Shorts Story and Strawberry Margarita. So cheering in all this Rain.
Today was pretty exciting because my sister and her family arrived.
Hooray!
Nephew FF has covetable platinum blonde unprocessed silky soft hair. This affords him rock star status in Honkers. Jealous.
Florence Welch (well not the real Florence but she's a dead ringer for her) from All cats are Grey at Night sent me one of those Tell Us 7 Random Things about Yourself Thingamies.
1. I am a middle child
2. I always plan my outfits the night before and check what the weather will be up to 1st
3. My favourite stone is an acquamarine
4. I loathe boiled eggs
5. I love peonies and wish they were available all year round
6. I am a very unskilled reverse parker (my talents lie Elsewhere)
7. I wear contact lenses.
I gift this Random Thingamy to old Willow and Lotus at Red Phoenix Emporium. Enjoy Twinnies.
How's the Decluttering Going? I've got more stuff to take to the Salvos. It's never ending.
| I'm having roast beef for dinner. What are the rest of you doing? xxxxxx |
At the fourth attempt, I have had success with the Claudia Roden lemon and almond cake that you make. Damned tasty! I will now dedicate myself to having a bash at the cheesecake!
ReplyDeleteBlonde hair on little boys is sooooooo gorgeous! And loving the matching polo shirts - father/son bonding!
Ali x
Hooray for the 4th attempt and thankyou for being a Hardcore Blog Stalwart!
DeleteMy dad had that white blonde hair and so did my sister....jealous!!
Good luck with the cheescake x
Dear FF, that cheesecake looks fabulous, my mum is over this evening and preparing an amazing prawn cocktail for our dinner. Enjoy your evening.x
ReplyDeleteI LOVE prawn cocktail!!
DeleteThank you for the cheesecake recipe, looks scrumptious! I like those OPI colours, I'll be on the look out for them next now frugal Feb is behind us :)
ReplyDeleteOPI is the best. What about how Orly was MATTE????
DeleteNavy polos. Le sigh. So much handsomeness right there!

I know, they always look good whether you are 1 or say 50!
DeleteMy cheese cakes always develop a San Andreas fault line down the middle...even when I let it cool slowly in the oven. Impressed with your faultless cheesecake.xx
ReplyDeleteOverbeating causes cracks!! You just want to gently blend- no cracks then!
DeleteI want to go back to Honkers yesterday :( Reminisced about it today with a girlfriend who is going next month, maybe with all the toddler paraphenalia I can hitch a ride in your sister's luggage? Made individual cheesecakes last week - I always get a crack where the springform tin opens, but nothing a good sprinkle of cinnamon can't hide.
ReplyDeleteHooray that your sister and family are in town, you must be in your element. Thanks for the tip on the cheesecake base. I wonder if the key lime could handle pastry too? Hmm. Maybe you refer this one to the FF Institute for Scientific Research. Meantime, I've noticed the beautiful floral ginger jar in the last two posts. Love. New?
ReplyDelete"2. I always plan my outfits the night before and check what the weather will be up to 1st"
ReplyDeleteMe too! My husband thinks it's funny and a bit crazy. Well, I'm not the one who gets caught in the sideways rain wearing silk and open toe kitten heel slides. Neither does he, come to think of it.
Your cheesecake looks excellent - who would have thought to use pastry? The universe directs you well. Thanks for the Thingamy nomination, I will get cracking on it!

I looove a cheeesecake, i use the baked cheesecake from one of Nigella's TV series. It is 100% foolproof, has a biscuit crust but thats ok coz i use it then use it again for the filling, all done with a stick blender! Easy as!hhhmn, contact lenses, I have been thinking about asking about laser surgery for a stigmatism, that's my worry.
ReplyDeleteI'm having Victoria sponge cake filled with fresh berries and king island yogurt. Unusually well risen for a sponge cake. Hooray for Kitchenaid! Roast beef sounds divine. Yum yum. JS xx
ReplyDeleteHi FF, have spent the past 2 weekends and TODAY decluttering like there's no tomorrow! My children have been having their very own versions of "Hoarders" TV in their bedrooms!!It's not on kids. Am becoming ruthless with age. Your cheesecake looks yum. Well done. And your HK mob have brought back my own beautiful memories of being driven around Honkers with chauffeur Frederick in a gold merc courtesy of my high flying expat cousin..those were indeed the days.Have a fabulous time with your family!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Started a low-carb no-cheesecake diet today! Strictly for health reasons so I must persist. I see gorgeous baby FF and his cousin look alike, at least their lips do! I wish my son had cousins close in age but the nearest is 12 years older. Hope you all have a lovely time together.

Dear FF, I must challenge you on your loathing of boiled eggs. I never thought they were much, until I tried the Singapore way. Take a boiled egg, pour on some soy sauce and white pepper and wha-la, you have a breakfast taste sensation! Give it a try and let me know what you think. Love, Clare xx

ReplyDeleteFF,
ReplyDeleteI recently read on someone's blog that you can bake a cheesecake in a Crockpot. You do need to put a towel under the lid to catch drips. Crockpot cooking is supposed to prevent cracking.
I'm actioning the cheesecake pronto!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh that blonde hair is awesome! Mine was that colour when I was itty bitty too....the money I have spent to get it back to that colour is criminal!
ReplyDeleteNo idea what's for dinner tonight...soup perhaps as I have a freezer full of it!
We are having seared scallops and crab cakes with sauteed kale in garlic and coconut milk.
ReplyDeleteBaby FF is learning to use the remote! You might never get your mitts on it again :)
Your cheescake recipe is always on high rotation in our house FF. Mr KB is up in BV with L swanning around the traps so I actioned garlic prawns for me. They were delicious and so quick and easy despite their luxurious look.
ReplyDeletei love Natasha and Amanda on Qanda. So inspiring.

Not surprised you're a middle child, but am surprised that you're not a whiz at reverse parking. You are so good at so many things. Are you right handed? We lefties usually have an easier time of it. Your dinner sounds fabulous - roast beef, cheesecake, and family visiting. My son and I are having In-N-Out Burgers, dirt cheap and pretty good if you know the special way to order. And probably only known of in Australia as the burger that Paris Hilton was going out to get in the middle of the night when they nabbed her for driving with a suspended license, which sent her to jail for weeks.
ReplyDeleteFF, I'm with you on the boiled eggs. Foul demons!
ReplyDeleteOMG you and I should be BFFs ... I am also a hopeless reverse parker ... it is a known fact amongst my friends that I will park a block or two away to avoid reverse parking. Especially on the cafe strip at Paddo or Rosalie where you are guaranteed an audience ... how embarrassing! I also love an acquamarine and a peony. I tell you we should be BFFs ... although you'd get cranky at me every now and again if I had a chipped nail so maybe not. And besides I'd get too fat being your BFF having to eat all your left over cheesecakes etc. So I'll just admire you from a safe distance.
ReplyDeleteNik xx
that cheesecake looks delicious!!! thanks for the tip! i made the orange and almond cake over the weekend and used the microwave for the oranges...worked a treat.
ReplyDeletelove those OPI colours!!!
hope you are having a fab time with your sister!!!
One skill I'm very good at is reverse parking. I even amaze myself.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to hear the family are visiting and I know this makes you incredibly happy.
xx
Your cheesecake looks fantastic. I have never made a cheesecake but you have inspired me. I asked my mother for her recipe which is chilled cheesecake not bake. She advised me to do it over two days. It has many processes and it is better to break it up into different days. The fact that it takes two days has not put me off so much as the fact that the recipe makes one large and one small and I could not make myself work out the different volumes to make just one.
ReplyDeleteI was platinum blonde when I was a child and my hair was dead straight. Through the teenage years I turned very curly and standard gold blonde. Platinum does attract attention and not just in HK.
Gosh, I have just done a killer pilates class and would give you my left arm for a piece of that cheesecake.
ReplyDeleteThat is most certainly the cheescake I want. Did you find a giant sized pastry sheet or did you make your own?
ReplyDeleteHello Nephew FF! He does have lovely hair . Enjoy your time with your Sister.
So happy your family are over - little nephew is growing at an alarming rate! I'm sure they're shocked by baby FF's furniture standing. The two boys must be great pals.
ReplyDeleteI cannot parallel park to save my life and I'm so cross with myself, because I could do all the reverses when I took my test. I have just let it slip:( Mind you I think it is crucial for a happy marriage to have a few things only ones husband can do, and this is one of ours LOL! xxx

ReplyDelete"let's turn our thoughts to polish now."
Love it.
Your phrases make my day. I was looking for a lift in my spirits....now I have it.
