Camilla.

I luffed Diana, and she will always be Our Real Princess, but Old Camilla is really growing on me. I like the way she wore the same hat to the Melbourne Cup that she wore to William and Kate's wedding. I reckon she'd be a tonne of fun to spend time with.
I like what she wears and she strikes me as a kind of warm maternal person.
Who's with me?

  1. I cannot keep up with you! I love Camilla too and am glad she and Charlie seem so happy.

  2. I am a big fan..I think she would be a hoot to hang out with.

I am getting my mum onto her bee venom facial beauty regime and she's excited to jump on the bandwagon. Mum said Camilla did a great job winning over the Aussies when she visited recently and people have started to forgive her for being the third wheel.

  3. I'm with you - and I was a real Camilla hater way back then. I think Camilla has a lot to offer, and dealing with Charles would not always be easy. Yet she seems to have just the right touch. Since their marriage I think she has blossomed in so many ways, and the mature age fashion is great to watch! Her hair and skin have improved so much, and she wears a tiara with poise and flair.

  5. My brother and his family met them when they were in Longreach. They said they were both fantastic. Camilla spoke to everyone and was lovely, funny and relaxed. I don't know whether she is really the one who can be blamed for all that happened in the past.

  6. Dear FF,
I'm struggling to join the Camilla coup but she is warming to me slowly.
I think the thing that gets her past the post is that she makes Charles so very happy.
I think the horsey style that she had previously is changing, thank goodness.

  7. I think the thing that has made us warm to Camilla is the effect she has had on Charles. He seems warmer, more relaxed, more approachable than he used to. I agree that I reckon she would be great to hang out with.

  8. I think she is what she is...down-to-earth,uncomplicated and funny.
As outsiders, no-one has the right to point the finger at anyone in a failed marriage. Charles and Diana were just not right for each other.
Charles and Camilla, well, Hollywood could not have written a better script for 2 people who should always have been together, and in the twists and turns of real life, got together in the end..."and lived happily ever after".

  9. Someone may have mentioned this to you already, but I have just seen it - The Women's Weekly brings together 2 of your favourite foodstuffs - Baked Ham and Quince!

  11. I agree with you. No one was a bigger Diana worshipper than I was in my youth, but time marches on. Camilla and Charles are clearly made for each other and seem so contented. I can't argue with that. Plus, Camilla really does seem like a fun, down-to-earth lady. She and Kate seem to be good friends too, which is nice.

  13. I too like Camilla, she is no Dianna but she certainly seems to make Charles and even the Princes happy. She always seems so easy going and you could imagine sitting down sharing a drink and a laugh with her. Love that hat!

  15. Hello FF, thank you for your comment the other day! I am your biggest fan, I was v excited that you read my blog.

I'm a Camilla fan too. I loved Diana, but I think Camilla seems pretty classy and fun, the princes and Kate seem to get along with her, and as sad as the whole love triangle situation was, I think it's romantic that she and Charles are finally together.

  16. I just think an enormous amount of misery could have been avoided if Charles and Camilla had been allowed to marry in the 70s! They do seem happy and she seems lovely. Her son Tom is a food writer, who really rates her roast chicken, so how could she be bad?

By the way, have you seen what I did with quinces recently?

  17. I just saw here when she was in Wellington, NZ. She is really lovely isn't she? I am with you though, Diana is my princess & I quite like Kate as well...

  18. FF I agree with you...I would imagine that she as a cracking sense of humour and you can see that she and Charles enjoy spending time together....she has grown on me too!
LOVING your massive amount of posts in anticipation for the big birthday.....keep it up, it has been so much fun!

  19. Has everyone forgotten how she carried on with Charles while he was married to Di. And all the pain she caused our Princess. Someone who commits adultery for years and plays an active part in destroying a marriage like that is very far from warm and mumsy to me. Sorry to be the voice of gloom here but I can't forget the past. I think she's done a good job of changing her image though, but again the past can't be forgotten for that is also a part of her character. BTW, I love your wonderful and colourful blog, though I don't usually comment. - Helen in Toronto
