I don't know about the rest of you but I've always been a bit fascinated by Jackie and Lee. Whose real name was Caroline. Apparently Jackie was the Boss of the Relationship.
Dear FF Have you read "What Remains" by Carole Radzwill? - The journalist widow of Lee's only son Anthony, best friend and cousin of John Kennedy. Beautifully written, very moving. Her young husband is dying of cancer. John K is going to deliver the eulogy at his funeral. He and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy (Carole's best friend) are planning to visit them after the family wedding on Martha's Vineyard. Instead, Anthony reads the psalm at John's funeral and dies himself soon after. Tragic and unsentimental. Could hardly bear to put it down. Really worth reading despite its sadness. Best wishes, Pamela
Hi FF, Hope you are all feeling better. I think it is high time you did another blog on books and reading in particular photos of your favourite books - fiction and non-fiction with some commentarty of course. Hop to itxxxxx
I always got the feeling that their mother must have done quite a number on them will being raised. Would love to know the true story. Always found it a big odd, that they shared not only similar hair, but their men as well.
To those of us a little older than you, she will always be Princess Lee. Most pictures of her don't do her justice, but you have found some very good ones.
I'm obsessed with Carole Radziwill...I discovered her by watching Real Housewives of NYC. She is the daughter-in-law of Lee. Her husband, Lee's son, passed away several years ago. Carole is so stylish, intelligent and seems like a down-to-earth person. I like her sense of humor. Have you seen her on RH?
Dear FF, Those sisters are amazing. Their like twins. I find Lee understated and slightly more poised. I think Jackie was obviously more forthright. Can you imagine being around at that time - hats, twinsets galore and hair height beyond measure. I've read a lot on Jackie but still wonder if the world ever understood her heart. Her ultimate legacy other than style was her parenting. She was definitely one proud mumma. B. x
Have you seen Jackie and Lee's personal diary, complete with charming and accomplished drawings by Jackie, about their grand tour of Europe in the 1950s as young single women immersing themselves in European culture? It's called "One Special Summer", and looks delightful - the blurb describes it as a glimpse into a lost world. I am trying to track down a copy on the internet as it is not readily available.
Dear FF

She looks so much like Kristin Davis. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI think Pippa and Kate are the modern day equivalent. They also have that rich-girl-hair thing going on.

ReplyDeleteLove Lee, so beautiful but apparently a bit of a madam at times. So stylish and a fab interior designer.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been hard sometimes being Jackie's sister.

ReplyDeleteWas just going to say they remind me of Pippa and Kate too. Lee always looked great too. Love all those shift dresses and page boy hair cuts.
ReplyDeleteKim

I bought it for my mother a few years back. The pictures were so fantastic I had to get my own copy.
Emily

ReplyDeleteJackie certainly was better educated and had a job before marriage
