Spiderwebs and Other Things.

Hello. I've been trying to figure out what was making ye olde FF Garden look so Dreadful (apart from the dead plants and non specific bush turkey destruction) when it hit me- The place was covered in what can only be described as spooky looking Miss Havisham style cobwebs!

Meanwhile Vegetarians feast your little peepers on this attractive fig, Gorgonzola dolce and toasted pine nut salad arrangement.
I'm not to lie, it was Delicious. But so it should be because figs are retailing at $59, yes $59 a kilo.
I know. 'Spensive. I mean they're fruit not Hermes scarves or gold bullion.
Mr FF usually actions the pasta sauce round these here parts but sometimes I take the reigns.
I give you my chorizo, chicken broccoli spinach and rocket pasta:
I don't even really like Christmas pudding that much, but by God I love setting it alight.
Been thinking about how our Real Princess luffed a one shouldered evening frock? Me too
This was Hachi from '83 and I think this might've been Versace:
Turns out that I am Nothing, if not a Joiner
in Shoshana
and in Halston

and in Marchessa Notte (maybe my favourite dress of all time)

Who knew so many of you found this ad as ridiculous as I do?
And in sad news I am typing this with what can only be described as OPI's Don't Know Beets Me on my nails. Again.
Will I ever escape this abusive polish relationship I've been unwittingly locked into?
I'm sick to Death of this colour. But just cannot seem to garner the requisite strength to change....
Have a lovely week.
And remember. Kindness, Humour and Good Manners go a long way.

  1. Perhaps try growing your own figs? My mother does and she has a pretty good crop every summer (not that I'd know, she never shares them. Nor her pomegranates. Nor her apricots. Nor her plums.)

    1. What does she do with them!! I have 2 plum trees and a mandarin tree. When the fruit comes in I cant give enough of it away. Im almost stopping people in the street to give the stuff away. Bag loads of it go into the office etc. She must be a jam or bottled fruit expert.

  2. As we speak I'm feasting my little eyes on my fig tree in the back yard that's full of baby figs! I endorse anything with chorizo in it. You pull off a one shouldered gown as well as our Princess, I'm sure many will agree

  3. Love you in a one shouldered frock, I can't do it. Looks odd somehow.

Honestly the reserve bank should trade in figs, they are crazy. But there is nothing better than a fig stuffed with goats cheese and wrapped in parma ham.

Oh Brad Pitt, how did you get talked into that shocking ad? It is like a parody, just awful.

    1. I loathe goats cheese. Mr FF can't believe it either

    2. Srsly? I am shocked. One of my favorite things in the world is Lunch at Nordstrom Cafe, and I always order the Fig, Fresh Berry, and Goat Cheese Salad, with vanilla viniagrette. Such Deliciousness!

  4. I get a mani/pedi with gel polish every 2 weeks. and am totally over the colour by the time I'm hot footing it to the nail station. Except when I wear THAT colour which I choose often. It makes me happy and my nails look cheery.

  5. R usually actions the pasta sauce too, although yesterday I made spaghetti and meatballs. I don't know why, although his family are of hungarian origin which is closer to italy than my family's origins (Ireland). Are hungarians better at pasta?

I walked past the Chanel counter just before in DJ's and snorted. Srsly.

  7. I am craving that fig salad! Looks delicious! Isn't a garden hard work? Always needy! I wear Chanel Nr5 and have been put right off!

  8. I luff a one-shouldered arrangement. That was my Year 10 formal dress, my wedding dress by Sir Daniel Lightfoot, and now a fab Carla Z frock I love. Think one shoulder's great as it somehow allows one to be slightly less bird-like in the shoulderial region than does the full strapless catastrophe.

A friend of mine has a saying: "You can never give kindness away", i.e., if you show it, it just keeps coming back to you. Words to live by, those.

The first time I YouTubed that Bradski ad for Chanel No. 5, I actually laughed out loud here at work at the Wordporium. What an oversized serving of wanky soup it is.

  10. Wish my husband could cook. He can only make pancakes. When under extreme illness cloud (literally couldn't get out of bed), the entire family ate pancakes for 3 days. I was so sick of them. I could even hear the children yelling "not pancakes AGAIN!" in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, I find a leaf blower does wonders for cobwebs. This time of year there are a lot at my place. It does mean I don't have to make too much effort to decorate for Halloween though, which is a bonus. xx

  12. I do love figs but I will not be buying until they are in season and at $20 a kg. Even then I know things are dependent on good weather etc. I don't like the new Brad Channel ad either and I thought Brad could do no wrong. Now I know better. I love a one shouldered frock too.

  13. Did the exhibition "Dresses for Humanity" of Princess Di's dresses ever come to Australia? When it came to Seattle in 1998(?), our Children's Hospital Guild got to stand among the dresses and tell the visitors not to touch anything. And after hours, I got to put on gloves and take a really close look at them. Just 20 dresses, but all really good ones. And the Exhibition made a donation to the Children's Hospital for our time. I would have paid them.
As to the nail polish, I think you have to give in and admit that you have a "signature color" and it is only odd when you aren't wearing it.

  14. Dear FF,
Icky icky spider webs. Here we have a few too may spiders if the red back kind, it's just wrong. Gardened yesterday like nobody's business, I figure that preparation is the key for summer 12/13.
I haven't owned a one shoulder number EVER, I know shocking, but as you know I'm a joiner and I'm on the lookout.
I was a hard core Princess fan and she did one shoulder like no ones business.
You rock those one shoulder dresses like no ones business. Impressed 11/10.
Step away from the polish, it's going to be tough but you can do it.
    Have a great day, B. x

  15. A great pink nail polish should never be under utilised! I've had essie's funny face on my nails for over a week now. Unfortunately it only goes with 50% of my wardrobe but it doesn't matter. I love it anyway!

  16. Talking of Miss Havisham I watched on DVD the '98 version of Great Expectations with Gwenyth and Ethan and Anne Bancroft as Miss Havisham. It was perfect for the rainy day we had on Saturday. The longing and the heartache, the green styling, and the of course the cobwebs!

    3. Totally understand about Gwyneth. I have never "gotten" her; do not understand the appeal. I find her somewhat plain, and that flat lank hair is just awful. Not my type at all. I currently have a girl crush on Olivia Wilde, who is not only gorgeous but has a great name. Sad she divorced the Italian Prince though.

  17. Gorgeous round up and I have a solution for your nail colour. It's your second favourite colour and there is an Opi orange that's called A good mandarin is hard to find it will be perfect for you in tone and it will go with that Halston and Marchess dress. Love your blog.

  18. I still can't work out where you find the time to get all the house-organising/elaborate cooking/dinner partying/pillow arranging done. I struggle to get even a basic dinner on the table. I'm starting to believe you mean it when you say you don't sleep - ever. BUT if you tell us that you are now dusting the garden of its cobwebs, I will quit reading this blog forever!!

  19. I'm on my way to your house to take that polish off you. We need to put an end to this relationship. Maybe you could have baby FF hide it somewhere (with your missing keys).

I'm all for one shoulder dresses and tops. Something about them makes them very feminine.

Did I hear right, Brad got $7m for the ad?

  20. I wish The Farmer would make pasta sauce.

Do you have a recipe for your sauce? Or did you make it up? I make stuff up all the time - and then wing it when people ask for the recipe.

Hope all well with you and yours.

  21. FF,
Had to change my polish recently - my color was discontinued by L'oreal. Old = I Pink I'm in Love. New, by Revlon = Angelic. I wear a light color to hide the chips (horror)!

  22. Tell me I am not the only one that wants to send Brad Pitt off to a good hairdresser for a trim? All over. I just don't get that facial hair stroking thing. But I do still love his quirkiness.
