Things.

I am Hardcore Sick to Death of wearing OPI's Don't Know Beets Me but it matches with everything so I feel Powerless to change colours. It's like being locked into an Abusive Polish Relationship.

Hooray for Embellishment
Whenever I smell Youth Dew I'm transported to the early 80s and reminded of my Aunt who used to wear it. Same thing happens with Opium.
Went to dinner with friends the other night
Wore Halston. You can't really tell but it's a one shouldered kind of Grecian arrangement.

Luff this Old School Red Phoenix necklace. Can't remember the name but wear it all the time
The food styling reminded me of the Danish restaurant that was voted the best restaurant in the world a few years back- you know the one I'm talking about- where the food was gussied up to resemble soil and so forth.
Wore these CL Darlings

All this rain is so bad for the hair but good for the garden. I can hear my parched plants weeping with both gratitude and relief

I've been very impressed with Camilla's performance on her Australian Tour. Plus I like her outfits. I loved out Real Princess, Diana, but I've developed a soft spot for Old Camilla. Who'd've Thought?
And can someone please explain why Brad Pitt is advertising Chanel no 5?
I don't like it. Not one bit.
That is All.

  1. Morning!
Opium takes me back to third year at school, I was 15 and had a bottle of Opium, it made me feel grown up, glamourous and decadent. It felt quite dangerous.
Yes Brad and Chanel, it's nonsense isn't it?

  2. I'm kind of shocked to say that Camilla has grown on me as well, though she does pull the most awkward faces when the media take pics of her!
Don't get me started on that Chanel advert - it's ridiculous. What the heck were they thinking??? Clearly not thinking me thinks. Have you seen the take-offs? Some of them are rather funny. No doubt you'd find them on you tube x

I do like Camilla- strikes me as a Stalwart and kind of warm and laid back

Apparently she is a bit idle but not even that bovvers me.

  3. You should look up the Brad Pitt takeoff on SNL in the US. Hilarious. I don't think he signed on realising how ridiculous he would end up looking. Jeepers, you are so super thin in that Halston dress. Jealous! x

  4. Hi FF,
I am with you all the way in the Brad Pitt and Chanel NO 5 department. I don't get that ad at all? The first time I saw the it I thought it must be a Saturday Night Live joke! Brad Pitt must be laughing all the way to the bank though!

I too find myself warming to Camilla, which is a complete turn around and has taken me utterly by surprise. I wonder if we would feel the same if Our Real Princess, Dianna was still alive? Camilla must have been a bit nervous to come here, given that Dianna was virtually mobbed on her last visit. The Duchess has handled herself with poise and looks lovely in a hat. What more can we ask of her.
Loving the rain here in Brisbane!

  5. My Nan wears Youth Dew and she one my most Favourite people in the world, so I love it too. I read an article on Camilla by Kathy Lette last week, and she said Camilla is down to earth and funny. Both Charles and Camilla have grown on me a lot, they seem very happy together. I used to say I didn't want them to be King and Queen, but I wouldn't mind now. I've never seen the appeal with Brad Pitt, he doesn't do much for me. I prefer the dark and handsome types!

  6. Ah Youth Dew, to me that is Nanna 11/10 - before she switched to Oscar de la Renta. Gosh how I used to love playing with the little gold bows!!

Not sure about Camilla, She often seems to look like she has been dragged through a bush backwards.... but she does look like she would be good fun to have a drink with!!

Am so pleased for your garden, freezing here in Canberra and it is threatening rain, but somehow doesn't seem to be following through.

I think I needed your necklace today, last week an unpleasant person inferred that I was mutton dressed up as lamb because there was bling on my shoe! Needless to say today I kicked it up a notch with blingy shoes, necklace, a bracelet AND a neon top - the cheek!

  8. Hi FF, I too have warmed to Camilla although I really want to give her a proper bra fitting. Two words come to mind 'lift' & 'separate'. Surely the royal highnesses can afford some better advice. Trinny & Sussanah? two words for you too: 'resting' & 'laurels'.
On another note I thought Charles looked dashing in an akubra. What did you think?

  9. As soon as Charles and Camilla left town, it stopped raining which was good for my hair too. My mum used to wear Youth Dew and then Opium...she's now moved on to Coco Mademoiselle which let's face it is a curious choice as she's really more of a madame than mademoiselle. However. Those shoes really are divine. Rx

  10. Helen mirren would be better than Brad Pitt.

My mum only wears youth dew. She gave me her old car (Lucky I know) and it made me happy because it smelled like her but it has dissipated, however she said she will spray some in there and sit in it for me next time I see her. It is very comforting.

I can understand the attraction, it's a great colour and goes with all. I'm having a love relationship with OPI Atomic Orange - it's fabulous.
I love Paris and Anais Anais at the moment but I did smell Angel the other day and I'm in love.
Mmmm Brad Pitt - ick it's not good, I'm afraid the only Brad I like is in Legends of the Fall, after that its down hill. Chanel did not shine with this decision.
Rain here today and a very apply garden.

  18. I don't know what Youth Dew smells like. Probably because my nasal passages are still reeling from the hardcore dousing of Red Door that my mother used to partake in every single day from 1986-1990. I'm happy to report that she has now progressed onto more pleasant fragances, Chanel No 5 being one of them. Although now that Brad is doing that woeful advert she may revert back to her old Red Door was (and yes, I'm totally crossing myself right now). I too am loving Camilla, although still miss Diana and wonder what she would be like now. No doubt still stylish as ever and not at all happy about old Horse Face winning over the Australian crowds x

  21. Dear Ms FF, Reading your post and the comments is just what I need today: am at hairdressers hoping for a small miracle. My lovely step mum used to run baths for me when I visited from uni a million years ago and put Youth Dew bath oil in it so it smells to me of love and comfort. Do you remember when we all wore White Linen? That instantly brings back big hair and bigger shoulder pads! Nothing is worse than a bad marriage: I would have hoped that Diana would have found happiness with someone else too as Charles appears to have wiith Camilla. May they have many happy years together. love Lindaxxx

  22. Youth Dew reminds me of when I first moved out with a friend in my early 20's - I stole it from her all the time! A lady at the make up counter once referred to Red Door as "Dead Hore"......don't think she was a fan

  23. I too like Camilla now. She and Charles should have married from the start. As I was writing this I was thinking about what would be now if they had ... Diana would still be alive but would be relatively unknown ... William and Harry would not exist ... and so on and so on ... sliding doors. I too don't know what Chanel was thinking re this latest ad campaign with Brad. It has put me off buying and wearing that perfume ... and I love No. 5. My scent of the late 80s was Anais Anais ... in the 90s it was Dune which I still love but the smell takes me back to a bad boyfriend of the time so makes me feel icky. Fell asleep on the couch tonight and when I woke I remembered I wanted to fake tan it for tomorrow so reading your post and writing this comment has helped in the drying process ... exciting stuff. Am off to bed now.

  31. Id love to read where Chanel thought they were going with that Brad Pitt ad, its slap the thigh and laugh weird. I don't like Camilla and object to her being recognised as anything else than the mistress in Diana's marriage. I thought she looked doddery on Melbourne Cup Day and wondered what Diana would have worn. I did wonder what she was saying when they kept shoving baby animals at her, she looked uncomfortable.

  37. Youth Dew is so 80's to me; big hair and shoulder pads! My husband gave me a huge YD gift box a few years ago. He said the lady at the Myer counter said it would suit me. (The lady at Myer doesn't actually know me!) By coincidence I used the YD powder puff last night. I do love it!

I also don't buy the Brad Pitt Chanel thing. Is it suppose to be tongue-in-cheek? Is he trying to join his brother Doug in a bit of joke advertising. Does anyone know if it is actually increasing sales at Chanel??

  40. I was cringing at the Brad Pitt thing for Chanel, and the Chanel chicky told me that "all will be revealed soon and it will all make sense and everyone will love it." I don't think so. But apparently there is more coming and it will be amazing. Hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'll forgive Chanel this whole Brad Pitt imbroglio as I am so deeply in love with Malice, their new dark red nail polish for the holiday collection. It's very film noire and makes me feel dangerous.

I can't say that I care for Camilla, but I'll put the best face possible on things out of a sense of duty to the Queen. I'm sure that Her Majesty still detects a faint odour of adulteration as regards her daughter-in-law, but Heaven knows her other daughters-in-law put her through a lot, so if she can take it, so can I.

The whole matter is moot, as I'm American. I shouldn't be wasting my time worrying about your Royals when I could be voting or indulging in free speech or trying to ensure that my arms look as good as our first lady's.

  43. Whilst I like to live large and mix things up I do believe when you are on a good thing stick to it so carry on wearing OPI's Don't Know Beets as it looks killer with your wardrobe of brights.
My late mother wore Youth Dew her whole life. I still have a gorgeous scarf of hers that still carries the slight scent of her perfume and I periodically take it out and inhale her scent 25 years later.
Ok on the fence re Camilla. Was passionate anti her in the Diana days and loathed what she did to the young Diana. BUT I do like people to be happy and she and Charles seem to be a genuine love match so i am happy for them. As her as the Queen well I’d rather not think about it.
The whole Brad Pitt/ Chanel thing = wankerishness (is that a word?)
