Gingerbread Men

Actioned any Christmas baking? Always carry a stash of these like I do?
Don't they look cute with their silvery eyes?
The Baby luffed them so much that he Would Not Share
Has anyone been to the flash new Target at Indooroopilly? Holy Toledo talk about Fancy. Braved the crowds there yesterday to action some Christmas shopping. Parking is a NIGHTMARE!

Might buy a new tree next year. This one's shedding like mad and getting a bit battered.
Look at this gorgeous cushion my friend L gave me! Luff it

Sick to Death of people who can't fake a bit of politeness and courtesy? Me Too. Plenty of this caper about at this time of year too. More's the Pity.
Bad Manners and Snark are so boring. And they just make everyone else think about what a Nightmare you'd be to live with.

  1. Bummed I did not win, but Congratulations to Tabitha! I follow her religiously as well.
I read somewhere that the silver food coloring used in the sparkly bits is quite harmful, so steer clear of it myself but the gingerbread men look cute.

  2. Shopping centres are full of rudeness and snark at this time of year! So many impatient and angry people.

  3. I love me a bit of Christmas baking, those gingerbread men are adorable. It's turned so cold down here I'm dragging out some of my very tired winter wardrobe. Bad manners are so boring, but Ive been lucky and haven't seen much lately.

  4. Goodwill to all men has certainly gone out the christmas window, what with stressed crabby people, unhappy kids (picking up the parents vibes) road rage, parking aggro, the whole Christmas shopping is a nightmare, glad I have finished mine hope you have too!

  5. Well done to the winners! Great prizes. Love the gingerbread, we just whipped up some not so slimming shortbread stars. My 1 & 2 year old, coupled with the nth Qld heat were a huge asset to the program. Gorgeous cushion, what a nice gift.

  6. It is a special joy of motherhood, making gingerbread men. No wonder your boy would not share! Yes, been to the new Target - I was gobsmacked! Such an improvement, and hope the rest of the renos look equally fine. The revamp of DJ's at Toowong is pretty impressive, too! Things are looking up in the western 'burbs!

    1. Dear Helen

Yesterday, someone called me the Laziest Person they know. Yes, I was quited shocked me. I can think of lots of way to describe me, but Lazy is not one of them.

    4. What an unkind thing to say. You are certainly not a lazy person and have inspired me to get myself more organised and declutter my wardrobe and my house!

  8. Beautiful cushion!!! Which reminds me, I need to wash mine.

I share the exact same sentiments. Fake it if you have to. Hahaha i'm all for honesty but if you feel the need to roll your eyes or spit out some snark comments, do it in a corner or something. Not everyone needs your negativity haha.

  9. I actioned 6 christmas puddings yesterday and the house continues to smell lovely :) No effort involved at all to say thank you, please or to smile - you use more energy being rude and ungrateful. Enjoy your day!

  13. I am so excited for the winners and cannot wait to see how they wear their new necklaces and use their other goodies - wonderful event for your readers, FF. And I know RPE is a brand easy to get addicted to and needs to be shown off around the world. Cookies look yummy - you are a braver woman than me to head out shopping and face the all-comsuming hunt for parking spaces this time of year.

  14. Sorry FF but those silvery eyes are freaking me out. They look like little gingerbread zombies, I need a smiley currant mouth to make it all better.

Need to advise on what tree to purchase, I have been needing a new one for 2 years but have been Paralysed by Indecision. Do help. Yours just Has It All.

    1. I'm in the same boat, urgently need a tree upgrade but what do I look for? Can I get one that will live up to all expectations from Target, or is there a secret supplier for those in the know? Do I need to look for so many tips or is it a case of you get what you pay for and the biggest is the best? Aaggghhh help us please. Maybe for the sake of those of us uneducated in these matters you might consider a special post? Loving your work, Lou xx

  15. Lovely gingerbread men FF!
Baby FF is precious as always.
I agree, so much bad behaviour around a this time of year, which is supposed to be a time for giving.

  16. The cushion is beautiful! Love a bit of colour. I agree re this time of year. I can remember (and i'm not THAT old) when everyone did seem to be full of cheer at this time of the year, wishing happy christmas and all that wherever you went. Just doesn't seem to happen so much these days. Sadly. Judy xx

  17. Oh congrats to the winners!
Nice looking gingerbread men, I love them with a cup of tea.
I have to agree that many people are cranky and short tempered, let's keep our wits about us and press on politely.

  18. I haven't done any baking yet, I'm itching to do it but have been too busy. I haven't made gingerbread in years because Aldi supplies me with the german version Leibkuchen. Mmmm, so very yummy.

  19. I find shopping can be a little scary in terms of manners. I find I have to be more patient and extra calm when I leave the house because so many people I encounter in the shops are on the verge of 'having a moment'. I give way to others at busy counters and always say thank you.

On to more pleasing subjects. I don't make gingerbread people but I do a very special Gingerbread Cupcake. My spices come out for Christmas cooking and make my home smell like Christmas is really here. I once watched someone on Martha demonstrated how to make very detailed icing decoration on cookies and I have always wanted to try it. Maybe now is the time to start making gingerbread men.

  20. congratulations to your giveaway winners. yay tabs!

terrible time to have bad manners, not that there is ever a good time but really? straighten up people!

  21. I do my Gingerbread People the same way, except I sometimes put extra cachous for buttons as well. Making them is one of my favourite things about Christmas.

Who called you the laziest person they know?!?! Was it someone who has never met any other people besides possibly Margaret Thatcher and Martha?

  22. Dear FF,
You are actioning my hubby's favourite thing ever. Ginger ginger everywhere. I've never added eyes, but now lookout I'm at it.
Love love Target you new store sounds fab.
Congrats to the winners it was a great give away.
I think that this time of year is challenging at the shops and I think that ones nerves can get frayed easily, whether worker or shopper be.

  23. Hello FF first time commenting; just love, love, love your blog. Have spent most of this week reading from the Start. Realised many Stalwarts had done this as I read the competition comments and figured I best be a Joiner.
Anyway the point of this comment was to say that I was just in Target, admired the blue top and thought immediately of you - it's ginger jar-esque and has beads/sparkles, what's not to love! It made me smile.

  24. Oh lucky ducks! Am on hardcore weightloss regime so have avoided Xmas baking but am having...wait for it....a Tupperware party tomorrow so am baking a plum cake with nectarines instead. Sort of festive. Tried to make gingerbread...although I have a large collection of those silver cachou ball things for decorating I have no Brown sugar so was thwarted.

  26. Congrats to the winners! They were fabulous prizes.

I can't believe the lazy remark, I mean, what planet of wrong end of the stick are they on?!

I baked some gingerbread hearts to go with teacher's gifts. They smelt heavenly and were delicious straight from the oven, but hardened to such a degree that I fear I may be hit up for some dental bills from said teachers. I hold grave fears for the teacher who promised not to open her present as she "likes surprises". Oh dear...

  30. I am doing the happy winner's dance - it's like Snoopy's dance but my ears are less floppy. I love gingerbread men, I gave them away as favours at my wedding as I had a gingerbread house wedding cake.

  31. Hi FF, I cannot BELIEVE anyone would call you lazy!!! OMG all your followers are in AWE of all you achieve. I hope you aren't getting nasty comments on your blog as you are always so cheering and I just love reading about what you are doing every day. Re: Christmas cooking; I am actioning shortbread tonight to give as gifts to my colleagues, so that is my Christmas baking. In our family we had a tradition since the children were small (they are now nearly 18 and 21) of making a gingerbread house. but we cheated and bought the gingerbread pre shaped and cooked in a kit imported from Germany that I could always get at David Jones. I made the royal icing to stick it all together and then we all stuck lollies all over it with more icing. that was the fun part. On Christmas day it was chopped up to be devoured by all the children! LJD

  35. Dear FF, LOVE the expression Holy Toledo, am now adopting it and using it shamelessly on all occasions.. note your comments about rudeness and snark (sounds like the name of a law firm): WHERE"S THE HELL IS MY OVEN CLEANING PRIZE!! bet the girl that won it doesn't even need her oven cleaned, in fact I bet she hasn't even got an oven....

You do know I am joking right??

  36. FF,
I don't even know what you are talking about re rude and snark (except for that lazy remark - totally uncalled for!), and don't even want to know.

If this action occurs in the comment area, I do hope you edit it out. Can't stand to read this kind of stuff!

Congrats to all the winners, especially Tabitha - love her!

  38. Those gingerbread men are excellent, I can't blame the baby for not sharing!
People with Bad Manners need to go have a big Time Out as far as I'm concerned. So does that daft person who called you lazy.
You are a world-wide inspiration FF! We luff you!

  39. Dear Ms FF, Congratulations to the prize winners, each one a lovely member of the FF community. Gingerbread men are fun to make and I do like the sparkly eyes (I would not share either if I were Little FF). I must not show this post to my youngest else she will ask why we did not get into the spirit before the big pack up. Yes, more civility please in every aspect of life. I think unsolicited criticism, such as 'you are the laziest person in the world' can be put in a bubble and blown away. Sometimes by what they do and say, people help us learn to avoid them or at least to giggle at their hyperbole. Keep enjoying the season. love Lindaxxx

  40. Love me a bit of gingerbread! The other day I said to my fellow coalminers when are you actioning gingerbread for the festive season and they all stared at me blankly! We source the Ikea flat pack house and never knowingly under decorate!

  41. Believe it or not I have never eaten ginger bread. I know I live under a rock. Is it crunchy like a ginger cookie or soft and doughy like bread?

  42. Dearest FF. Lazy?? Really?? How rude. I don't even know you and you are my role model for How Things Should Be Done. Read somewhere that 'its never about you, it's always about them' ! Helps me cope in All Kinds Of Situations. Just watched my children sing carols in Chester Cathedral deadset soothing and inspirational, especially as it was the last service for my oldest daughter. Eeek! Where did my life go? Please notice my now fluent FF speak, so much easier than French I find. -7' here tonight. Definitely leaving the heating on, no matter what my husband says! Xxx
