Photos from Back in the Day.

This was me today in Antik Batik. Can you believe how Boiling Hot it is?

Those are my beads from my Childhood that Mum's kept and gifted to my Little Boy. We're very emotional that he's has begun his final week in the Nursery at the Orphanage. In a few weeks time he will join the Toddler Group. How in God's own name could this be? Wasn't he just born?

Baking a pav for Christmas? Me too. It's practically un-Australian to do otherwise.

Someone left a comment asking if I make my bed with a Staple Gun. I don't.
But this is such a Good Idea I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier.

Ready for Stroll Down Memory Lane?
Prepare Yourselves Emotionally.
This is me with my Christmas tree in 2004. That's Mr Zsa Zsa on the left. We were all about to go out to the Green Papaya for dinner. That satin outfit arrangement's  long since gone.
I remember I couldn't figure out how to get the lights off the tree because theyd' become so crazily tangled and I ended up throwing the whole thing away in frustration.
This is my 2005 tree. The coverage wasn't great. These things take Time.
The next 2 snaps are  me in Dubai in 2004. I was visiting my sister who lived there. Luffed that trip.

This is Mr FF embracing neutrals in my parent's garden in the country in December 2004 with the late FF Family Dalmatian, Robert.
This is me with L in maybe 2006 at Omeros Brothers on the Coast. Don't let my brown hair throw you. That Zimmerman frock was the Business. Wheeled out those earrings last night
And the reason I started looking through my old albums is because today I got an email from my friend Buphee (so not her real name) who lives in Vancouver. We've been friends since maybe 1996 and She's been much on my mind lately. She is seriously one of the smartest funniest people I know and we have about 1000 in jokes. I wanted to find some photos of us in London in 2003. Here we are outside her flat in Belsize Park. I'm wearing a coat she gave me that I think was a long gone flatmate's. I took it to New York and left it in the hotel because I couldn't fit it in my suitcase.
I miss her.
Do you have a Memory like an Elephant too?
Are you also the Keeper of the Fables (copyright Buphee 1997) in your Circle of Friends?

  1. Loved the glimpse into your past.

And now I must ask. Is The Baby saying things? Do tell! Does he Luff It?

    1. he says lots of things! he is pretty chatty. He doesn't say luff it but says "Love You" and blows kisses. Which is pretty sweet.

  2. No one can be as impossibly slim as you are in the 2004 Dubai picture. So envious!

I can just tell you and Mr. FF made a very handsome couple back in the day. Nay, still do. I'm also sure you get that a lot.

I have a prying question. What do you wear about the traps? Surely you do not wake up with instant glamour?!

    1. Say what you will about me in my 20s and 30 I was dead set THIN. Mr FF and I did look the Busines back in the day.

I wake up looking like death. Altho Mr FF lies and says I wake up looking good.

If by around the traps you mean at home, I just wear casual play clothes. If I am going out you've seen all my play clothes outfits on this blog!

  3. The sight of those wooden beads threw me back about forty years to a distant memory I cant quite grasp.

    Love a Dalmation called Robert

  4. FF, do you have a special pillow/cushion room to stash your many and varied selection? Does the baby create carnage when he gets his hands on them, or are they all velcro'd in place? Love the colour combinations!

    1. I store them in a linen cupboard and I love them all round the house as required.

The baby loves to yank and throw them about the traps altho the other day he did hand me a cushion when I was making the bed. Generally tho he destroys things as fast as I create them.

      velcro is a brilliant idea!

  5. Ha! I always say I've got a memory like an elephant! My oldest son's inherited this. That pic of the Baby with the beads is adorable.

  6. Your beds are always gorgeous! My best friend turns 60 next May and I am devising what I hope will be the best. present. ever. We met in Grade 4 and lived in the same suburb, so I am going back there to take photos of the places we went together, and will include them in a memory book with photos of us together through the years, vouchers for things she loves to do/buy,memories from our friendship. I have plenty of time to prepare it so I'm planning that it will be really good!

  8. Much actioning of pavs here. Party for 30 on the homestead lawn on Christmas Eve and vast quantities of food required. Will also have glazed ham going on.

Wish it was hot here. It usually is but not this year. Normally I wouldn't care but it is playing havoc with our harvest.

    Baby FF gorgeous as usual.

I had an outfit similar to that satin number but it was in a pinky/purple colour.

  9. My memory's never been the same since I gave birth. Am lucky to remember library day now, so you're doing very well FF. The photos of your bed arrangements seriously look like they're out of a homewares catalogue, they're fantastic!

  10. PS: Did you watch Maggie Beer's Christmas last night? She did a beautiful pav with apricots, am thinking of doing the same this year with my husband's beautiful apricot tree.

  11. More to the point is - where do you store all your cushions when they're not on your bed? You have a very large selection that you obviously theme to your linen. Impressive. Love your outfits/ hair. I always find it a shock to look back at old photos - someone posted school photos from our final day at school on facebook and I couldn't believe my hair was so dark. I really, honestly, thought the highlights at the hairdresser were only a shade off my natural colour. I am not the Keeper Of The Fables in my circle of friends. I seem to have developed a mind like a sieve since having children. Also, my husband thinks that I have a tendency to remember things incorrectly anyway. As he is an ex-lawyer, he is quite difficult to argue with - he requires Evidence, which I usually can't remember. It's a vicious circle. xx

    1. I store cushions in a linen press and at night they are placed onto a chair in my room.

Love seeing how my hair has morphed over time!!

  12. I love all the nostalgia here and the photos with friends. There is also something terribly soothing about looking at pristine beds with loads of cushions! x

  13. I am the story keeper, in the family and my circle of friends.

We always have pav, but it is served in separate pieces so each individual can add their desired level of cream and fruit. Or in my partner's case, just eat the plain meringue.

    1. Brilliant idea! I only like the crunchy meringue shell, not the soft bits!

  14. Oh, I remember that visit - and that coat! I remember CTO and me trying to figure out which entrance to Bank tube station you were coming out of when we met up for lunch.

It's been a wonderful 17 years of friendship - I will always remember the first time you took me out for coffee at Merlo's and asked me all about myself.

    Miss you too, FF.

    Love,

  15. Love the trip down memory lane and the fabulous cushion arrangements. Our plumbago still has some flowers, how amazing it's blossoming in both hemispheres at the same time. Have a wonderful rest of the week xx

  16. Pav is on my what I have to bring to christmas lunch list. I'm also responsible for the stuffed loin of pork.
Nothing like a trip down memory lane. Although your hair always looks good even as a brunette. If I go too far down memory lane I uncover all sorts of hair disasters. Sadly perms were all the rage in the 80s.

My goodbye to Miss H was a bit teary...mine, not hers...but how can you say thank you enough to the woman who loves your child in your absence. I will miss her.
    Deep breath.
Where do you store your linens that are not on your bed?
I would love to increase my collection but I have no where to store them.

  21. I've held my circle of friends since 2001 (we all went to high school together - one even went to preschool with me). And yes, I am the keeper of fables... a mad mad mad photographer since 2003. Gave the girls framed photos and the boys lovelingly hand written cards this year :)
