The Black and Spiro Flea Market.

Went to the Black and Spiro Flea Market today.

Some People are scared of Sequins. I'm Not one of them.
Wore sequins ($30 from Temt) and some jeans ($20 Temt) and a Kenneth Jay Lane necklace.
Loving wedges? Me too. So comfy.
Wheeled out my beach hat and wrapped a Dior scarf that I bought in Galleries Lafayette in Paris in 2003 around the Crown.
It was a beautiful day for it, the People Watching was 11/10 and I bought some lovely  hand made perspex Christmas decorations. Because I'm a Joiner, I found myself buying some fabric offcuts too. Even if you don't sew it's hard not to get caught up in the Madness of the Fabric Frenzy.

Trying to figure out what to wear to a Christmas drinks party tonight.
It has to be something that works in boiling heat and 100% humidity.
What are you all up to?
xxxxx
PS don't forget to enter our 3rd birthday give away due to be drawn on 5 December by leaving a comment.
We have lots of nice high end prizes.

  2. I'm studying. I also have a pan of baked beans cooking on the stove with a tin of tomatoes, a ham hock and a chipotle. Just making occasional trips to the freezer for a spoonful of icecream.

  4. Happy 3rd blog birthday FF! Although I don't comment very often, I have read every one of your posts. I only follow a few blogs, and yours is always the first one that I read. I so look forward to your posts, and I thank you for inspiring me to be a better Christmas tree decorator. I love your recipes, your style, your humour, and your love for your little boy. Keep blogging.

  5. Boiling Heat? Humidity? I have climate envy. It's 20 degrees in WA - at the very beginning, THE VERY BEGINNING, I say, of Summer. (Please forgive the shouty caps, but a situation like this warrants it).
Please wear tonight something utterly summery; strappy heels, strapless frock, so I may live vicariously.

  6. I buy fabric and I don't know what to do with it. I thought I was the only one.

  7. You're looking very lovely and sparkly today FF. I should hotfoot it to Temt for straight leg jeans, am having a devil of a time getting a brand which fits comfortably around my tummy that has a mind of its own these days.
Right now I'm sitting in front of the air-con waiting for my hair colour to process before I meet my bestie who I've known since we were 17, for dinner. Fun times and we get to solve the problems of the world at the same time.

  8. Tempt is a great store. Sussan's done a U-turn on product too. I went this morning for stocking fillers (slippers, etc) and noticed it was filled with the demographics you'd normally see in high-end Hawsburn boutiques, all buying up the French linen numbers. It's clearly learned from Witchery.

The B&S sale looked great. Fabric remnant piles are always fab, esp Anna's.

I caught up with my brother and his two children from his mistress this morning. Our traditional family has suddenly become very convoluted! xx

    1. My family in untraditional and I quite like it that way!

      Love remnants too.

I'm old enough to recall when Sussan and Bitchery were cheap

    2. Those were the days! Bought my very first "grown up " clothes there in the 70's. I can still picture them, and the feeling of trying clothes on in a "proper" shop instead of the girls department.
      Ohh...the thrill!
      Cheers, Renie xx

  10. Hmm love sequins! Been to a breakfast wedding today, beautiful and lovely day, weather was perfect! Question for you FF - are you brilliant at taking the exact right angle on your self portraits, or do you crop before uploading to the blog? Just curious :) Cheers Judy xx

    1. I am brilliant ant angles. Is a Talent of Mine!!

But sometimes I crop, because often the Baby's face is right next to me and I do not show his face on the blog.

  14. Fabulous giveaways FF. Would love the necklaces or the Liberty words - divine! Hot and humid here in Sydney so chicken Caesar Salad & chilled white wine for dinner with the air-conditioning going full blast.
Hope you have a fun evening.

  15. You do day sequins so well. I have put on glittery red polish on my toe nails to get into the festive season but they can't hold a candle to your sparkles.

  24. The heat stopped me visiting to B&S today. Jumped in the pool early and once I was in there it was just so delicious I couldn't drag myself out! Love a fabric remnant as you never know quite what it will become.

  25. It's probably too late, but can you wheel out the bargain navy & orange strapless see by Chloe number for your party tonight? Loved that!
I took my y-mail clutch (YSL should sponsor your blog as you're why I bought it!) to lunch today- shinny is probably as close to sparkly as I get! Looks fab on you though!

  28. Hi I came across your blog a week ago. It make me smile. I'm fascinated and impressed that you find the time to channel your various style icons and Goddesses ( if that's the right word) in conjunction with the real world. Thanks for the feel good smiles and encouragement to take a little more effort in my own style department.

  29. I don't know what Temt is, and I suspect it won't suit me, but I muse say that they do a good line in cut-price sequins. Good find.

I find myself strangely drawn to necklaces with tassels on them these days. Must be something to do with all the subliminal messaging from Willow, Lotus and your good self.

  33. I don't know how you cope with the humidity, FF - I'm just back from 4 days in Brissy and it nearly killed me. I was almost wishing I was back in dry 38 degree Melbourne weather! You always look so polished (and lovely outfit today too, by the way) - how do you manage it with that weather???

  34. I've channeled you today and have gone the whole hog for glamour! Smoky eyes, dark nails, cashmere and lots of accessories - feels great!

Just making fish and chunky chips with chip shop style mushy peas - can't wait and then we're going to have a relaxing afternoon, probably watch a movie and sit by the fire.

    PPx

P.S. LOVE your sequin top, wish we could get that here.

  35. Hi FF,
Not to change the subject, but I have some info you might find interesting. I was just shopping at my local Costco (American readers will recognize this as a shopping warehouse club requiring a membership), and they were selling Australian racks of lamb, frenched, for $9.99 per pound US. And can I tell you they looked good! How can it be that it is so cheap here and so expensive by you?!!!

    1. Hi Sheri,
I used to love buying aussie lamb at Costco over there. It cracked me up that they used to label it "free range lamb" What lambs are not "free range" here??
Enjoy that bargain...you are on to a good thing!

  40. A little review of 2021....this year you have inspired me to dig out the two long neglected orange boxes with little brown horses on the lid..you know the ones...so I have been wearing silky, vibrant scarves with hand rolled hems as only Hermes does and my husband is delighted.

Catherine Deneuve was everywhere in le Bon Marche last month as they're celebrating 160 years. Gorgeous graphics in the windows and a film documentary, showing her about and about and, yes, she's far more Chanel than Brad! My son had me in stitches with a parody of the Brad Pitt ad he'd found!

My garden is small but flourishing at the moment. My hippeastrums are about to bloom but they're rather overshadowed by the first bloom appearing on my magnolia grown from seed. It so beautiful and smells divine!

So, thankyou for the fashion insights, the delicious food, the reminders of HK (we lived in China in the 90's)
and the wonderful memories of a little boy running around the house. Ours is now 25!

Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a happy New Year and thankyou for the blog.....I look forward to FAUX FUCHSIA popping up in my inbox!

  41. I love Temt, their jeans are fantastic! I'm currently on the lookout for a pair just like yours but pink - on sale for $15 but of course my store doesn't have my size.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Market looks great. Temt is such an untapped resource re sequins and other trends. I bought a sewing table from Ikea for the sewing machine I bought over five years ago and basically have never used, so now I guess I should buy some fabric too, or leave it another 5 years and just have a good lie down...

  43. It was a searing 40 degrees here on saturday too, how are we going to cope with summer. I don't know how you do sequins in that heat but as always you managed to look fab.

  44. PS I'm echoing another comment on Sussan. I went in there the other day and they have some good bits happening, they've really changed direction. But in no way cheap. The other shop that I'm loving all the colours in at the minute is Country Road. So many colours.
