Raining and Pouring.

Yesterday I threw on some old school Missoni from back in the day and hot footed it to Django Unchained.
Workshopped it afterwards with my friend G over some carbs. I thought it was great, but Reader, it's very violent and confronting. Mr Tarantino must've gone through truckloads of fake blood. Had to avert my eyes at times. Christoph Whatsy steals the show and the sound track is 11/10.
All this rain's quite nice. And the garden's luffing it sick.
I used to loathe crotons. But now I've seen the error of my ways and have embraced them as the True Garden Stalwarts they are. Slow growing. But Good.
A lovely reader send me some gorgeous treats including OPI polishes! The small ones are the Skyfall colours. Luff them. Thank you!
 Forgive me Dr Atkins!
Because the weather practically demands Carbs. And lots of them.
You know how I luff a navy sequin?
Turns out I'm not alone.
Look-
Here are some more good embellished Marchessa frocks on old Georgina Chapman.
Wasn't Downtown Abbey good? Luff every scene between Shirley M and Maggie Smith.

  1. Blistering hot and dry down here (south Australia). Would love some cooling rain. Love the navy sequins on you, I feel I could embrace a navy sequin though I am usually sequin averse. Loving the shots of baby FF being a boy and wreaking havoc, as they are wont to do. Love that he is the boss of you. I have one too:)

  3. Am 'luffing' Downtown Abbey....so wish I had been born in that era, upstairs of course not a servant.... that doesn't look like as much fun! I usually luff what you do but we are going to have to stand on opposite fences on the croton issue....luckily world peace is not at stake!!

    1. I reckon if you could see the croton surrounded by coleus and underplanted with seaside daisy (erigeron) and bromeliads you'd change your mind!

  4. Your garden looks very lush.
Bought the Skyfall colours as a teacher gift for my daughter's young kindy teacher last year. They look great. Today I attempted a manicure with polish acquired free with a magazine. Big mistake. It stayed sticky all day & now will be removed after less than 12 hours. Not impressed.
Django would not be for me but my husband would love it. Those carbs look delicious!

  7. Just watched the season 3 finale of Downton! Will not spoil anything - HATE having things spoiled - but will say it is a doozy of a season. Now the wait begins until Mad Men starts up again.

I felt that Django could have been half an hour shorter - it felt very self-indulgent after a certain point. Although I suppose I shouldn't expect anything different from QT.

Glad to see the FF garden is enjoying the rain.

    Love,

    1. My sister told me the ending! I know. Shocking...

I need you to watch MM5 and tell me as I don't have the channel anymore that screens it. Dammit

Was a bit long but I was ok with that x

  8. Grandma told me this morning she takes the phone off the hook during Downton Abbey (this is an act of defiance because she is 93 and lives alone).

I rode home in wool pants. it's 35. Yuck.

I didn't find the blood and gore confronting in Django but I was certainly confronted by Q. Tarantino's Aussie accent. He sounded more like a New Zealander.

Carbs look delish, rather fancy some myself but maybe cold ones.

    1. Good for Grandma!

      35? is cold here.

Tarantino's flick had a sort of Clint Eastwood feel to it I felt. x

    2. Tarantino definitely has a spaghetti western influence in his films - and ennio moriccone composed for django I think - and he composed for classic Clint westerns like the good, bad and the ugly etc. was lucky to hear him with the Adelaide symphony orchestra at the Adelaide festival last year. Loved django And love that you luffed it too. Lilly x

  10. I am always worried about buying sequinned clothing because I once bought a sequinned and beaded top that kept decaying, dropping a disco mist of assorted glitter wherever I wore it. It has put me off ever since.

I love the latticed pie. I rarely make pies but I should get into it.

I would really like to see Django Unchained on the big screen but I also like the option to pause on gruesome parts if I wait for the DVD.

    1. I understand you being sequin adverse -I too have dealt with this decay you speak of.

  11. You are killing me if you weaved that pie top! Well done, I've tried and I get annoyed and give up. Love how you get out with girls + hot chips. The garden's looking really good, nice little arrangements of plants. Georgina's definitely your brunette cousin. X

    1. it's easy to do, the secret is to be slap dash and messy.

I luff going out with the girls to work shop a movie and eat hot chips. We order them cause they are the cheapest thing on the menu!!

  12. think I'll give Django a skip... I'm not a Tarantino fan in general at any rate. Your outfits are stellar as always. Especially love the way that Anna is channelling you. Downton was ok, but the placement of ad breaks by 7 was woeful. Nothing like cutting midway in an Important Conversation scene to the ads to ruin the viewing! xx

    1. but it's good Heidi!!! I loathe ads. I remember back in the day foxtel was practically ad free. Miss those days. x

      Delete
    2. Oh yes, and in early Foxtel days, the Sky news presenters clearly thought no one was watching and would have the most bizarre conversations with each other (and all the female anchors would wear the same 5 jackets on rotation shared amongst them all).

  13. We had spag carbonara on the weekend. Dee-licious! Might have to get some strsppy plants like crotons to fill the gaping hole in our garden where our gum tree used to be, it blew over in the big cyclone storm thingie.
Your garden is looking like the perfect sub trop paradise!

  14. Love Downton. Hate ads so much that I bought a box set of DVDs for each of the seasons. Only problem with that is that The Farmer and I then spent an entire week watching 2 each night and now all of season 3 is done :( Truly excellent though and Maggie Smith didn't so much steal the show as walk away with the entire thing in her handbag. She is truly stellar.

  15. Love Downton abby, very tempted to buy the series so I dont have to wait a week for the next one, & those ads are very annoying.
Glad to see the baby is still enjoying playing with the cushions.

  16. I'm loving all your garden updates its looking so lush green can practically hear it slurping up all that rainy goodness.

I have a sequin admin question, Anna will be facing the same dilemma in her navy sequin jacket. How do you deal with the sequins rubbing? You know say as you swing your arms, mine always catch.

  17. More cushion carnage! Your garden is looking great, it looks quite big. I am definitely going to watch Django, it seems like my kind of movie.

  18. I love the way O arranges the cushions...very artful...he has an eye for pillow placement.

I also love Downton Abbey! Maggie Smith is my hero.
I am a bit ahead as I have been downloading them from the US.

Your dinner looks amazing...is that carbonara? I would love the FF carbonara recipe.

I am thinking about actioning some of your cranberry and white chocolate chip blondies. This rain makes me want to bake!

  19. I too like a navy sequin , its nit as brash as the big three Gold, silver and red butstill has pizzaz.

I reckon Shirley and Maggie have the most fun making Downton.

  23. Ok, have just been catching up on your last few posts FF! Your garden is so inspiring, love seeing it in your pix. Hanging my head in shame here but have to admit I have never seen one single episode of Downton Abbey or Revenge for that matter. My husband and I had a massive catch-up of Homeland last year and am not sure if I should have a Downton marathon or just accept that I've missed the boat? But I did see the Sesame Street parody which was too gorgeous for words, you should youtube it! Happy week FF xx

  24. I'm ashamed to admit that I've never watched Downtown Abbey. Or worn sequins. But I've definitely eaten hot chips, luff OPI sick and speak almost fluent FF, so there's hope for me yet ;)

  26. Also luffing Downton Abbey. Maggie Smith is the best.

Can't wait for Mad Men to start - luff Don Draper even though he is a bad boy.

Those carbs look good but you never seem to put on any weight...lucky you!

Can't decide whether to see Django because of the violence ?? Just wondering, have you seen Anna Karenina yet?

  31. Again FF you have wowed us with how you and your Missoni look fabulous. Missoni was sold last year at Target. You should have seen the shoppers; it was like the worst behavior of the "Housewives" tv franchise. I managed to snag some scarves, towels and bath mats which I sent home with my daughter to Brisbane. Loved the arrangement of the nail polishes I sent and especially the way Junior FF made use of them. I remember when my boys were little and how they liked to paint fingers and toes. Agree with you re Django gore but loved the retro feeling of the music and opening credits. Today I saw in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine your Anya Hindmarch sequin cluth. As always you are ahead of the fashion set. Downton Abbey is the best. If you get a chance take the internet quiz "Which Downton Abbey character are you?" The quiz said I am Violet Crowley, Dowager Countess. She is my favourite character but I am not sure if I should be embarrassed or delighted. Have a wonderful Tuesday with your FF Family.
