FF's Wish is Granted

Hello People. Today I was wearing this silk jade green Chloe top (95% off on sale!) at the Coalface when the phone rang. A voice Spoke to Me and Said:
"FF you shall go to the Fancy Pants Valentino Exhibition Opening on Friday the 6th August!"
I know. I was super excited too. You know how much I wanted to go. After all, he was Our Leader's Favourite Designer until Mrs Herrera took over. So now begins my Outfit Quandary.
What to wear. I've just looked at the outnet.com I could wear something like this Pringle red frock:
Or maybe this Valentino beaded cocktail frock arrangement

or I could pretend to be Tilda Swindon in I am Love and frock up in this Jil Sander number

But I wasn't sure, so I skipped over to my friends at bluefly.com and found this by someone I've never heard of before called Marc Bouwer Glam It (I think). It's a bit Lacroix-esque.

But the thing is, I'm meant to be embracing thrift. I do own a few "Touch of Red" frocks. You've all seen this Shoshana one. It's got perspex beaded whatsies on it.
and I'm also very partial to this See by Chloe number:

Thoughts? Insights?
Meanwhile I am Turning My Life Around. For the next 2 weeks of my life I'll be in Training for the Red Phoenix Emporium FF Leo Necklace Launch. Willow Lotus and I got together ages ago and channeled Karl Lagerfeld and Amanda Harlech at Chanel and threw around Nonsensical Fashion Phrases like "Organic" and "Visionary" and "Collaborative Journey" and we "Challenged the Paradigm" like no one's business and created a necklace so fabulous that grown women will weep. Weep I tell you. In a good way. Willow won't let me see it yet though.
It's a surprise.
So in honour of my launch I am embracing the following:
Salad. I know. It's so Healthy and Low in Fat.
I'll be eating lots of these vegetable products and I'll be walking home from the Coalface at the rate of knots with my 4 kilo rucksack. It's the New Me. Exercise. Healthy eating. Minimal puddings.
I hardly know who I am anymore.
There are so many good things on tv tonight-that fabulously bossy Ruth on Country House Rescue. Olivia Palermowhatsy swanning around Elle Magazine where she allegedly "works"on The City. Glen Wheatley on Australian Story. Malcolm Turnbull on Q and A. So much Choice.
Cheerio.

Keef. And Other Weekend Stuff.

Helloooooo. Last night I went back to Peasant for dinner (2 nights in a row. Say what you will about me but I'm predictable) I wanted to channel the Magnificence that was Keef in the early 70s because as you know I am currently obsessed with the Rolling Stones.
I reckon Keef woud've liked this bronze clutch arrangement. Frockwise, I thought velvet was the way to go, with some sequins.
I've had this dress fo a while. It's from our friends at bluefly.com (purchsed during a Happier Time when the Australia d0llar was strong and postage was cheap...Those were the Days My Friends)
It's Nanette Lepore and has the best bracelet length balloon sleeves. It has a lot of what fashion people would call "Volume". I love it-I felt like a happy giant purple grape, it kept me warm and cosy plus it had the added benefit of covering what could only be described as a Multitude of Sins. Essentially it is a Magic Frock. Win Win People.
So then I got to Peasant and my friend M took care of beverages-this is a big carafe of Keef sanctioned sangria
this was lamb and parsnip
these churros were killer
Let's relive the Magic of Stones in Exile:
Keef didn't just have a superior constitution-the man had seriously superior hair

Today I met my friend K and we went to a sale at the the home of A-M from the House that A-M Built Blog.
It was all very attractive and tasteful

it's in this month's Home Beautiful too
I was being a bit Keef-esque because I wore a scarf. It's Missoni.
I didn't want to turn up empty handed so I baked A-M a cake with cream cheese and passionfruit icing. The icing looks a bit wonky but it is 11/10 tasty.
If I was Keef I'd have some French chefs at my disposal but I'm not, so I decided to make a big green chicken curry. It's overcast and cold now so it seems weather appropriate.

Now I'm off to action some ironing, folding, mopping and general non specific cleaning. Might even wash the car. It's not very rock and roll but it'll make me feel virtuous and organised.

The Stones. Peasant. The Weekend.

Here's Mick looking all pensive on his private jet as he leaves the UK to become a tax exile in France. This is from a scene from Stones in Exile, a fantastic documentary I watched the other day that was frankly 11/10.
Here's Our Keef:
and here's Anita Pallenberg looking all youthful and glam:
I love these gates
This is Keef's face before it was ravaged by excessive smoking drinking and the consumption of large amounts of Class A drugs (say what you will about Keef's body-it really is incredible that it dealt with all of the above and didn't just conk out)
I loved what Bianca wore to the wedding. Was it YSL?
Everyone was so thin

During this scene Bill Wyman was complaining that he couldn't get English tea bags in France and how awful the French milk was and how homesick he felt. Nice do Bill.
One of my new favourite songs is Tumbling Dice. The lyrics were inspired by Mick's housekeeper in LA who loved to gamble with dice (who knew?)
Inspired by the youth beauty and sheer Glamour of the Stones and their entourage, on Friday when it was cold and rainy, I channeled Anita P (without the hardcore addiction issues) when I decided what to wear to Play Clothes Day at the Coalface
I came up with this getup:
I thought the faux fur jacket screamed early 70s in the South of France

I had lunch with MDW (lunch every Friday since 1994 and still going strong People). He's a massive Stones fan and has seen them 3 times. He had lots of amusing anecdotes about them.
Last night I had dinner at Peasant. These are some salt cod fritters.

And this pork belly with quince paste was 1653749/10.
so was this sangria cocktail arrangement.
Which lead to this unseemly behaviour:
and this
Mr FF is Mick to my Keef.
This morning I changed tack.
No more Stones. Lots of Martha.
I got a crochet lesson over brunch from my friend M (endodontist to the Stars)
This is M. She is wearing one of the nicest frocks ever. It's Missoni (I asked)
I ate this
and wore this Chloe dress from Jean Brown that you've all seen about a million times before
Then I went and had a look at DIG on James Street
I love succulents

But in the spirit of thrift I bought nothing.
I looked in Space Furniture too. By God everything in there is so 'spensive. Luckily my taste runs to vintage stuff sourced from places like charity shops and hand me downs from my parents.
I'm off to Peasant again tonight (when you're onto a good thing stick to it)
My new favourite Mick song is Just Another Night with You.
Might go and listen to it now.
