Leopard Print. Let's Live the Dream People.

Can I just say that I love this Nanette Lepore silk frock arrangement 11/10? Leopard print polarises the masses but I'm a Fan. If Karl (Lagerfeld) and his Muse Amanda (Harlech) could see this outfit I think they'd agree that on some level it's almost Visionary.
You already know this is a Red Phoenix necklace because I wear it almost every day. We may as well get married we're rarely seen apart.
Mr FF's tie is the same colour story as my Frocktastic Dress. It's Armani.
Don't let my split ends throw you- I'm getting my hair cut by my whippersnapper hairdresser H on Saturday at 8am. You know my views on a pocket. I think they are Essential. This dress could probably win a medal at the Frock Olympics with practically no training and minimal prep. That's how good it is.

Look at this gorgeous bloom. I have a lot of bromeliads underplanted under trees in the FF Garden. This beautiful exotic flower popped up on one of them. It's the perfect shade of red purple and yellow. Very YSL circa 1978.
They don't bloom for long but their strappy leathery leaves look good even without flowers. If you've got a shady garden run out and get some pronto. They're drought tolerant too.
Thankyou for all of your well thought out and considered Mascara Responses. Diorshow seems popular but I'm thinking it might be a bit 'spensive...Meanwhile why were so many of you so interested in seeing me in my walking home from work outfit? What gives? It's not glamorous but it's comfy. Anyway, I'm enjoying a soothing sauvingnon blanc and a mini chocolate easter egg and I'm going to clock some couch time and settle in to read my book and watch a bit of Mariska (Detective Benson) on Law and Order SUV followed by some Medium (spooky). What are you kids doing?

  1. What a gorgeous dress! I'm smitten with it! I've taken my first step into Leopard print and bought the Leopard print cardi from Cue, can't wait until it's cold enough to wear!

  2. Definitely visionary. Without a doubt. The side pockets are a WIN. This evening I am going to walk the dog down to the video shop to return a dvd (the Reader), then come home and watch I, Psychopath on ABC. It looks like a most interesting little doco. I've had it with Elliott and Olivia, I love the ridiculousness of SVU but lately it has been too silly even for me. Except when BD Wong is in it, love him.

    Loving the leopard print.

Agree that pockets in dresses are 11/10 - especially if like I did, you find paper money of a modest sum in them when you wear them again after they have languished in your wardrobe for months on end.

I am heeding the call of the wild. I have some Steven Sprouse leopard somewhere on my shelves of shame. I will go find it.

  4. Diorshow IS very good, but I also have to put a vote in for Covergirl's Lash Blast. You can build it up as much as you like and it doesn't seem to get clumpy! Plus it's much cheaper than the Dior, which I reckon is a good thing when you consider that you're only meant to keep mascara for a couple of months at the most!

  5. I am a Chanel devotee....but now I think I might be sourcing some Diorshow! My friend R - criminal lawyer by day...makeup artist by night convinced me to invest in one of those Shu Umuera eye lash curler thingies....she promised me it would CHANGE MY LIFE.... and I think it has......

  6. Loving that Leopard look and Mr FF's toning tie too! Diorshow mascara v. good but .. if its 'un-spensive' you are looking for I think the Maybelline Pink and Green packaged one is the way to go! Enjoyed my usual Thursday night with Nigel Slater - now off to read my book...x

  8. That is a fantastic dress - I adore leopard print and am tossing up whether to purchase the leopard print jeans on offer from S&B this season. Mmm...

    Lovely as always

  9. Love that dress, it's gorgeous. I wore a frock to work today and got numerous comments on it's beauty (and perhaps it's the reason I got offered a seat on a very crowded bus this afternoon?). So will wear a frock again tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Friday FF :)

  10. Great dress and on the mascara front get an expensive one but when it starts to run put a bit of baby oil in it to make it last longer. I hammer mine for 9 months that way!

  11. I can't get behind Diorshow or leopard print, but I can get behind pockets. Well done with the pockets.

I am trying to get the house in to shape before going away for a long weekend. Husband still has not packed! I bet Mr FF packs on time.

  12. Diorshow is the best as long as you don't know G.Armani Mastro, brown! please go for brown, no matter which brand you finally chose.

the bloom is very impressive. the picture you took, too - with all the reflexions.

btw: if find time to answer one of my questions: what base coat do you use?

before buying a lash curler I recommend trying it in the store first: some eyelids fit better to MAC's curler than Shu. like mine. :-)

    1. love the dress. the cut is amazing.
    2. we like yer walking home clothes because its like "real" ha. but you still look glamour. i look like a homeless person in my walking get up.

  16. I'm a new reader, encouraged this way by Pseu . . . I covet that dress, pockets AND leopard print AND clean sheath-with-some-waist-shaping, perfect! Looks fabulous on you! As for relaxation activities -- I've begun watching Nurse Jackie and recommend it.

  17. I'm not a huge leopard print fan, but that is a very nice dress - the neckline is extremely flattering.

On mascara - I used Diorshow but didn't repurchase. I just didn't love it enough. The one I am currently using and enjoying is a brand called Arbonne. I love the product but they seem to be a scary pyramid-selling structure, which puts me off.

  18. Dear FF, thank you for answering my nosey questions about how you met Mr F and his superior hair, and also providing details on his wig and gown arrangement, I like to be up to date on legal attire worldwide.. ( I suppose there are no side pockets in the gown??) Do you get togged up and appear in court too?

I am afraid I do not do what I am told - I did not wear leopard print today, in my defence I would point out that I wore a H&M leopard print dress earlier in the week, and felt that was enough for this week - I do love leopard print though..

I thought of you today as I went shopping at a high end clobber discount outlet near Oxford called Bicester Village - you would love it, maybe you have already been to it on your trips to England? Among others it has Gucci, DVF, Fendi, Ferragamo, Vivien Westwood, Jimmy Choo,,; I tried some fab dresses on at D von Furstenburg but then baulked at spending £400 on 2 dresses ( I am basically cheap!); I did buy Mr B some shirts from Thomas Pink and a rather smart tie from Ferragamo..must go now unglue my boys from the TV and force them at gunpoint to have a bath..Blightyxx P.S. note to Social Services - the bit about gunpoint was a joke, I actually use a cattle prod.

  19. Paula, I don't wear base or top coat. Shocking I know.

Mr FF packs on time. He travels a lot for work and golf so he is used to packing. It takes me ages.

I had no idea you could add baby oil to mascara!!! Make Do is this safe?

Blighty I have not been to Bicester but it sounds like something Ii'd like. I like to buy stuff at discounted prices.

Welcome everyone that Deja sent this way. That is excellent that someone in Hungary is reading. My friend ZZ is Hungarian and I'm a Fan. I love Nurse Jackie-excellent show-I've always liked Carmella Soprano in whatever she's in.

  20. Hi Ms. FF,

I'm afraid the only animal print dress I have is not suitable for daywear. Although I think you could pull it off. It's black and white form-fitting leopard covered in clear sequins. Very Dynasty. Very Las Vegas. Very fun.

Thanks for the compliment re my neck. Also cannot wait to see more of your friends home. I'm really wanting to bring out the RL in my cottage this spring/summer. Maybe they can give me some tips!

  21. My fave mascara is actually Loreal Telescopic - really makes my lashes longer than any other;)

  22. Loving the leopard - I'm a bit obsessed with animal print myself - and the idea of a Frock Olympics. That's definitely a gold medal dress!

  23. I currently wear Lancome Definicils which I quite like. I got it on a special offer. It is easy to use, smooth on the brush and has a nice ladylike effect. But that's all. Nothing dramatic, but nor does it irritate. I have used most of the big French brands and none seems better than another to me. But for an inexpensive brand recommended by beauty editors and some models (allegedly) I suggest Maybelline. It's so cheap you can chuck it every two months or so as is recommended as hygienic. I am on a budget and have tried it though I find it 'clunky' compared with Lancome etc. Instead I try to look for those special offers on the big brands. And please DO NOT add olive oil or whatever to old mascara in an attempt to extend its life. Your eyes are precious and you could endanger them through adding non-sterile elements to a cosmetic already compromised by age and use. In the first instance try wiggling the wand within the sleeve - not pulling in and out which just sucks in air so exacerbating the drying effect. But surely your eyesight is worth more care. Better to renew regularly with cheaper but adequate products rather than polluting expensive branded products with cheap tricks?

  24. Dear FF what I meant to say ( mascara apart!) was that I have been driven to cross the channel in my effort to purchase Chanel Particuliere, as channeled by you. Happily I was very successful and managed two bottles (one for a friend) but of course it wasn't my only mission otherwise that would have been too 'spensive. My surprise is that Particuliere is a gentle glossy chocolate brown - not a grey. Ideal with this (northern hemisphere) SS2010 natural/nudes fashions. (If you click onto my blog you can follow my travels.) Anyway FF, thank you for your recommendation. I adore this colour and you have renewed my interest in the sybaritic pleasure of painting my nails.

  25. I like the print FF, you are able to wear so many wonderful frocks!
Have you bought a new mascara yet?

  26. FF, Try Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara for curl and volume. For thrifty eyelash curler that works, try QVS (from Kmart and Priceline)the one with the black grip handles - I discovered this eyelash curler 5 yrs ago from the pros on the VF.

  27. FF - I have been wonmdering if its too early in the season to wear opaques as I usualy reserve these for winter. However I see you are fully embracing them at the moment and so it must not be too early.

As for winter boots (particularly knee highs) I am particualrly sensitive as to when one can start wearing these. I find that it is only bogans who wear their knee high boots in summer (apologies to the bogans but its a fact). What is your view on this FF?

  28. I am a huge fan of leopard print. I don't have an LP dress, but a cardi, 2 pairs of flats, a tank-top, 2 big scarves (brown and black/white). It's fabulous, lifts your spirits right away.
I like to watch Medium too. And any type murder-death-kill show (like CSI). Husband says he's worried about me. And concerned for his own safety...

  29. FF - dont use mascara as my eyelashes are sparse and the vaseline removes it!!
But I want to say - you exude beauty and wit in this blog post. You are visionary and I love your work.

  30. Dear FF,
interesting inside-FF-info on the nails. thank you!

Did you by any chance have hick-ups this morning? I've been thinking about you because I watched the September Issue. And it mad me sad. The portrait of Grace. Really sad and disturbing - watching a gifted woman like Grace, depending on Anna W.

Seeing this movie I remembered how a former boyfriend used to love the Italian Vogue and ignore the US Vogue. Italian Vogue was seducing. US Vogue was boring. Seeing how Anna threw out the most beautiful pictures, I get the point ...

  31. I'm all about leopard prints. I don't find pockets essential, but I do like them very much. So of course I love this dress! Mr. FF's tie is pretty awesome, too.
Gorgeous bromeliad...I planted a few at one of our properties, and SOMEONE in the family let them die. I wonder how you "let" a bromeliad die? They seem unstoppable.

  32. Hi FF,

I just found the best blog. You must go see it. I think she is really, really HIGH WASP. She must be very rich. Go to my blog list and click on. The photography, clothes and her garden is gorgeous. You can thank me later!

    The blog is "Slim Paley"
