Today I met my beautiful friend Lucinda for lunch. She came bearing Gift and gave me these gorgeous flowers from Phoebe Stevens. Apparently her instructions were "pink" and
"More is More!" I love them. Thanks L!

L also gave me one of my favourites books ever-
Elizabeth David Classics. You'll never run out of inspiration if you have this book at hand.

and something else exciting happened- my
Malene Birger book arrived from amazon. Hooray.

This is Malene actioning some finishing touches backstage at a fashion show presumably in Denmark.

say what you will about her she loves a neutral.

Mr FF took this tie off before I could snap it round his neck but as you can see it is
Far from Gaudy! It's by Dolce and Gabbana. In case you're wondering.

This flu thing is really interfering with my ability to sleep. This is what the sky outside my bedroom window was doing at 4.15 am this morning. It was being all huffy and moody and sulky and channeling a teenager.

I watched the final episode of Season 4 of Mad Men last night. I can't wait for season 5 but apparently it'll be the last. Super disappointing.
Still no pannetone to be found for love or money. More's the pity. Making do with mini plum puddings laced with brandy.

RE: Optiko, Mr FF could ask Michael about LOUISE from Townsville, I think I was almost his first customer in the Tatts Arcade shop.
ReplyDeleteBronson and Bianca (the Bichon Frise) Boyle have popped in to Optiko over the years, and one of our birds Dolce "Dora the Explorer" Boyle has visited as well, she had to go down to Brissie for Feather extensions.
Can you believe it's 19 degrees in Townsville this afternoon, that is some drop in temperature?
Well I'm off to pester Blighty, she's had enough rest I think.
toodles,
Louise

PS I should come down to Brissie (sans chien) and see Valentino, and even Paddy.
You lucky duck, I haven't received my copy of Malene Birger's book yet...can't wait. Phoebe's flowers are the best...
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon...when are you going away?

No pannetone? Scandalous! Surely there is a little Italian deli somewhere that will have them. I seem to recall a nice one down in New Farm that I went to many moons ago.
ReplyDeleteDear FF, what gorgeous, gorgeous flowers! sorry that you can't sleep, what a bore! Does Mr FF happily sleep on? If ever I can't sleep I make sure to sigh loudly and flump the pillows a lot, and then if that does not work, nudge Mr B in the ribs, then I say "Oooh, darling, did I wake you, sorry?" very sweetly, I am evil but I feel it is important not to suffer alone... We have pannetone here, there is an Italian deli stocks them all year round, we are very international out here in Sticksville.. xx
ReplyDeleteI watched the last episode of MM too. I think DD is ridiculous (no spoilers here). Never mind. I cannot wait for Season 5.Sad that it is ending but best go out on a high. In the meantime give Boardwalk Empire a look see.
ReplyDeleteHi FF, I love Malene Birger as well. Sounds like a great book. She's done amazing things for Danish fashion. On another note, I can't believe Mr FF's tie was called "gaudy". I think his ties are very stylish.
ReplyDeleteThat Mad Men episode was so fantastic. The office scene between Peggy and Joan was pure gold. Don did a Captain Von Trapp.

Pannetone.
ReplyDeleteClayfield markets and Sirianni's Ascot.
Pannetone bread and butter pudding is the only pudding of this style I will eat, give it a whirl if you haven't already.
Gorgeous flowers - very you I think.
ReplyDeleteI might be able to solve the panettone situation, try Aldi. They were stocking panettones last week. Now I know it's not very glam...but how much do you want panettone??

Dear FF, If you are looking for Pannetone in Vegas, try New Farm. Coles down there and New Farm Deli always have them. But if you want the "yummiest" Pannetone in the world (I think) you have to try the one they serve at "Cafe Sopra" inside Fratelli Fresh in Sydney. I have emailed them to find out the name/brand. Hopefully someone imports it into Brisbane. It was about $50 whole last time I checked, but worth every cent. Have you ever been to Fratelli Fresh? It is divine. Every time I go there I see someone famous eg. Toni Collette, Neil Perry. The food it out of this world and it's like a little warehouse market with a cafe. Also "Bourke St Bakery" in Sydney is to die for - pork & fennel sausage rolls, pizza slices - I am salivating just thinking about how good it is! Will get back to you re: Pannetone brand. Love, Clare xx
ReplyDelete....making do with plum puddings laced with brandy!
ReplyDeleteOK that has started my day with a grin!
Pink and more more...ravishing floral arrangement.
Have a great day FF....
Hugs
Dear Ms FF, I know what you mean about not sleeping. My body has no idea what time it is and as a result I feel like a damp dishrag all day. Lucinda has great taste in flowers, doesn't she? I do like an OTT flower arrangement and this hot pink would be nicely offset against a neutral background. Mr FF's tie tells us that he is not of the peaches and cream complexion. It looks very Italian and dignified - but why can't or won't Mr FF wear a fashionable and gaudy tie? Perhaps he should Branch Out. It is the beginning of the weekend in Jordan as Friday is really Thursday because Friday is really Sunday (work this out yourself) and as a result I have that terrible sad feeling of missing my girls - what am I going to do when they eventually leave home?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I missed the final episode! I just got hooked by watching the entire season via on Demand. Oh well, I'll watch it later. Do you love the clothes?
ReplyDeleteI was completely inspired by you today - read all about it in my post tomorrow - baking, then snipping in the garden but sadly I have less than perfect follicles! Rats, I should have worn my Malene Birger cardigan!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers!
ReplyDeletehi ff,
ReplyDeletei hope you are feeling better and will be getting some good sleep. the pink flowers were very thoughtful and beautiful.
that tie is not gaudy.

Good rumour undone! Fab flowers, got a lovely floral arrangement myself yesterday from Mr MDS. Get well soon xx
ReplyDelete007, oops I mean, Jason used to have a tie similar before he went all fundamentalist with his ties. Panettone tip: Greenslopes Coles. They are cutting edge on the southside.
ReplyDeleteOh I am afraid I have no advice on how to get better quickly and give that cough the flick. I am personally a serious fail. You'll just have to rely on your constitution and hope that it is not as dicky as mine. A lot can happen in a week... think butterflies and rainbows... that's my best medical opinion. A-M xx PS. gorgeous flowers.
ReplyDeleteDear FF, What a wonderful bouquet! Definitely more maximalist rather than minimalist andmost certainly PINK!! I do hope that you are feeling rather better.Try a warm milky drink before bedtime......lack of sleep can be so draining.
ReplyDeleteFF ... I think you made a typo ... do you love the flowers or luff them? Re: Clare's comment - you MUST go to Fratelli Fresh in Sydney ... its the best. And so cheap for the quality of food ... very authentic Italian fare. I go with my sister and three year old niece everytime I visit them in Sydney ... having my niece there gives us the excuse of ordering a plate of hot chips which are the best hot chips in the world. They are cooked in olive oil ... yum. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat divine flowers! Love!! And I don't think Mr FF's tie is gaudy at all - it looks tres chic.
ReplyDeleteYou have my sympathies over the cold/flu type arrangement. It took me three weeks to feel normal again. It's horrible!
Hello FF
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers.
Hope you are feeling better today.
Loving Mr FF's tie.

Hi FF, hope you are feeling better soon. JB has been missing you lately. Frocks with pockets aplenty, on sale no less!
ReplyDeleteI hope you were not stuck in bed today with this amazing weather.
I am hoping to go to Aldi this weekend, will try and get you a pannetone thingy.
Dear FF
ReplyDeleteI saw this blog post on Mia Freedman's site and thought about you, and all the other bloggers that have been unfairly judged and commented on.

Hi FF, Maybe amazon for the panettone? Or, I see Mario Batali's recipe requires lots of kneading. Soothing and good for the arms at the same time. Agree with LIC re: Mr FF's tie. Please feel better soon.
