Consciously Doing Everything.

These $10 supermarket roses are good aren't they? No scent but you can't have everything.
Meanwhile you know how Gwyneth just Consciously Uncoupled?
Well inspired by her I Consciously Unwrapped these seed packets with my paws and actioned some sowing. This rain practically demands it. Fingers and toes they'll strike.
See this pile of washed stuff?
Consciously Unwrinkled it with an iron then folded it with my own bare hands. True story People.
Look:
Said Yes to a brooch on Friday
And went to lunch at Survey with Mr FF.
Malaga wine's always good. And kind of Consciously Un-fast to chip. Hooray.
In the early 80s my parents took me and my sister to see a double feature of Tootsie and Gandhi at the cinema. I know. In retrospect it is a pretty unusual combination. Anyway, I watched Gandhi again today.
It's the perfect wet weekend movie.
You can see why it won a slew of awards.
I'd forgotten that Candice Bergman was in it. Edward Fox played Brigadier General Reginald Dyer who was in charge of the Amritsar Massacre which is pretty hard to watch.
Here's the real Reginald:
Ben Kingsley was the Business as Gandhi.
Love the photo of George and love that jumper arrangement with his name on it too.
Saying yes to snacks? May as well.
Doesn't Elle look good for 50?
Might action some crochet in front of the Real Housewives of Melbourne and Downton.
Consciously of course.
Goody.

  1. I'm saying yes to snacks and dessert. Consciously. Made bread and butter pudding with pannettone. I went to see Ghandi in the 80s but haven't seen it since. Candice Bergen seems unlikely in it?!? I went looking at flowers this morning and found them all uninspiring. Wish I had just jumped in and bought some. Elle has excellent genes and has obviously kept up whatever it takes to be a model at 50. Good for her. xx

  2. Gosh you are a good women for ironing your sheets. I may do the pillowcases and most often the duvet cover ONCE it is on the bed, but never my towels and sheets. My talents don't stretch to ironing I'm afraid. Thought of you today, I made some quince jam. From free roadside quinces. They were boxed up and FREE! The best jam I have made to date, got to love that naturally occurring pectin. xo

    2. Iron sheets - really, but why??? Pillow cases yes, but sheets???? Oh l just re read, so do you or don't you iron sheets? If not, how do you get them to look folded. But pillowcases l feel MUST be ironed, cos they are observable to the naked eye. Whilst we're on the subject then - what about tea towel, table clothes, napkins??
Or do you get an ironing lady? What about Mr FF shirts?

      Delete
    3. I do not have an ironing lady.

      I am the ironing lady!

Mr FF does his own shirts. Sometimes he'll do my clothes too.

I iron my sheets because they lie better and flatter in the cupboard and I find ironing soothing. Esp in front of say House of Cards.

I iron cloth napkins and table cloths too. I iron all my kid's clothes, even his pjs.

Because I am Hardcore into choice, I support anyone who says to No to ironed fabric. It is a very personal decision!

    4. Same FF. We are like twins on the domestic front. Mr T irons his shirt each morning and sometimes does something for me if needed. Love fresh ironing and love getting into bed with freshly ironed sheets, One of life’s small pleasures. I think I have a linen fetish as well. Same as my mum. Tonkath x

    5. My mother liked everything ironed and folded in the correct way also...I must say there is nothing like an ironed sheet, especially if it's linen

  3. Too funny!

I'm consciously procrastinating and consciously eating processed Doritos dusted with that delightfully orange fake salty powder. Don't suppose Gywnnie would approve.

  4. So funny. I loved both of those films especially Tootsie. Your canapes platter looks fantastic - drinks and snacks are the best meal ever. I really liked the first episode of RHW Melbourne as I liked seeing what they were wearing, where they were eatings and small snippets of their lives, however the arguing and gossiping is a bit frustrating - I know that is the way the series works but not sure if I can keep watching. The royal family photo is gorgeous x

  5. Ha! I had to laugh at the double feature! I watched The Wizard of Oz on the weekend which was wonderful as alwayws and finished a very gripping library book- The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. It was so gripping I didn't manage to do any of my cooking or baking for the week!

  6. My niece has a cocker spaniel, same as Prince George. They are practically the same person.

Survey roast chook looks delicous. I consciously scoffed a caramel macadamia icecream for dessert. Have you been watching more RHOM?

  13. Love the way baby George is looking into doggie's eyes. Doggie looks worried! Kate and Will look gorgeous. That lunch looked amazing.

Impressed that you iron your nice clean sheets. Our washing machine (an old Maytag) caught fire early Friday morning - smoke billowed through the house, had to call Fire Brigade. Bit more exciting that we wanted on Friday morning! Luckily had done two loads the day before. But no further washing till we get new machine. Been doing research and will be ordering from Appliances on Line. Sounded impressive, we're thinking of an old school top loader, a heavy duty Speed Queen, US made. Expensive but sounds made to last and wash well. When googling reviews of washing machines, amazing how many seem to think their machine's a piece of junk - except for people who still have ancient machines going strong after 12+ years.
Ghandi was a great movie and fabulous cast all round. Lovely you're able to put seeds in. Self sown sweet peas seedlings are already appearing amongst the aging veggies. Planted seeds last year and they were brilliant flowerers so fingers crossed the self sown ones turn out well too. Watched Rake. So good! Love/love Richard Roxburgh as Cleave. Pammie xxx

    1. Stick with the top loader, easier to use, can shove stuff in anytime (which you cant with front loader) and l think they do a far better job and last forever!!

    2. Agree about top loader....cannot abide front loaders - I like to be able to poke around if necessary. Also I have dealt with Appliances Online a couple of times and they provided great reliable service - would recommend them.

    3. Many tks for advice Anon and Brama. Have ordered the top loader through Appliances on Line. Arrives Thursday. They will even take the old burnt out one away, no extra charge! Best wishes, Pammie

  24. I consciously did more washing than I had anticipated this weekend. Having a sick child is never fun. Changed all bed sheets twice each, Doona covers, towels, clothes and anything g else that was vomited on. I think I might give ironing this Doona cover a go when it comes off the line, I haven't done it before but I think it would look nice!

Love those yellow, roses, they are gorgeous. Hope those seeds strike, it is certainly perfect weather for gardening, soil is nice and moist and the sun is out today, perfect conditions!

  32. Don't have an opinion of Gwyneth one way or the other but have always thought her mother Blythe Danner seems to be a very classy lady and a great actress.
Love the casual family photo of the royals - will be very exciting having baby Prince George in Australia - can you imagine how the crowds will go wild if they take him out in public. They seem to be a lovely little family. Elle is just beautiful and seems to be a really nice down to earth person in spite of being the ultimate supermodel. Must be that Aussie upbringing.

  34. I consciously love this post. And what's not to love about a baby staring adoringly at a puppy?

And love your photos. As usual.

But Mr FF wearing a suit to lunch. Tell me that wasn't done consciously on a Sunday? It's still warm. It's Australia. I know he has more Mediterranean style/heritage but ...

And I wonder who put Tootsie with Ghandi. Maybe the organiser had the theme of single word titles made of names? So what other diametrically opposed film doubles could you, or your readers, come up with?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Re the suit It was taken on a FRIDAY! on a Sunday he would be in Play Clothes. Or weekend wear. Or a golf outfit.

I reckon the deer hunter and the life of Brian was just as odd a coupling! (someone put that upstream in the comments)

      Delete
    2. I read all the comments but obviously not consciously as I missed that double bill.

Glad that Mr FF has play clothes.

Do you define clothes as "work clothes" and "non-work clothes"? I have clothes I only wear to work. If I take them out of the wardrobe, I immediately think about the chalk face.
