Lovely Stuff.

The house has been filled with people and relatives but we've gone a bit quiet now. Amber gave me these orange gerberas. They're good aren't they? Meanwhile who doesn't love an iris? Mark and Greg said No to flowers and gave me this soothing and comforting beverage instead: And my friend D sent me this divine baby rug. So cosy. Even though I am responsible for an infant I am still saying Yes to Accessories. And yes to 3 year old Sonia Rykiel velvet smock arrangements. Nephew FF and his superior high end platinum blonde hair that affords him Rockstar Status in Honkers have been to visit. Don't babies have the sweetest necks?
And my friend S sent me this divine Ralph Lauren baby outfit. Wish it fit me.
People are very generous with baked goods when you have a baby (I know. Who knew?) - The Zsa Zsa made me friands and Willow actioned some pear crumble. Look:
Lotus gave me these hyacinths- the house smells wonderful
Can you believe the Jackie O furore? (for those not from round these here parts she's a radio announcer who's been criticised for returning to work part time when she has a 3 month old baby who her stay-at-home-dad-husband cares for. She's also been criticised for feeding her baby while crossing a road. Read more here)
Hope no one criticises me for holding a camera and a baby at the same time.

Sometimes I like to match the baby's outfit to mine. Today we went with White. He wore organic cotton from Cocoon at Paddington, I wore a Target frock thingamy.

Niece FF is on the continent too. Here she is actioning some Barbie Shenanigans. She met Blighty the other day. In London. Isn't it nice the way blogs Bring People Together?
She gave the baby this cashmere teddy bear (It's a Casmiracle!!) from the Little White Company. I love this bear. Might steal it for self too.
When Amber visited she was carrying this piece of Loewe Magic:
The next time I see it, it had better be glued to her shoulder because I'd like to pinch it for myself. In other thrilling news, my paws aren't polished but if I were to action same I'd go with these colours that just arrived-Koala Berry, Big Apple Red or Cajun Shrimp. All very cheering.
The weather's turned cooler. Will have to think my "Autumnal" wardrobe.

Cardigans could be My Future.

Stuff from Today

This rain has got to stop sooner or later. Enough is Enough.
My blood runs cold at the thought of the Rat Plague (crosses self). Maybe the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse are about to ride into town because things are definitely Out of Control.
Meanwhile, I wore this huge colourful caftan arrangement today. It always makes my sister laugh because she thinks it looks ridiculous. It's something that Fran's nanna Yetta on the the Nanny would have worn I think.
I have taken to wearing my 'do up to combat the Frizz.

Remember how I love orange and wanted Willow to create a necklace with orange in it?
well look at what she wore to the Coalface today!
I love those coral beads
Today on Oprah there was a thing about the doco Food Inc about how food in America is manufactured. Apparently it's cheaper to buy fast food than stuff like broccoli. They showed this image which revealed broccoli to retail at $1.29 a pound which on my calculations is about $2.60 a kilo.
So why are we paying $8.98 a kilo??? Well? With the floods apparently it'll go up to over $10 a kilo. Why are things so 'spensive round these here parts?
Good to see we are all in agreement re the retail giants whinging about people shopping on the net to save $$$$. The papers were full of letters to the editors from angry consumers and words like "vitriol" and "backlash" were thrown about with gay abandon.
A few people have asked me about the nursery decor. My sister sent me this gorgeous book. It's full of lovely ideas. I am partial to white furniture at the moment.
I am feeling poorly.
And worn out.
I've always had lots of energy so it's frustrating. I am very bad at doing nothing.
Here is one of my favourite views in the world:
It means I'm tucked up in bed, and can (hopefully-fingers and toes) action some sleep. Goody.

Hello. And the Necklace Goes to....

These are some paper serviettes that Mr FF gave me. Surely I am not the only one who has this dream? My house is always sort of clean-ish but there is Hardcore Room for Improvement. I have already done 2 loads of washing and began a declutter. Which cheered me up no end really. Clutter being ther Devil's work and all. When I get home from the Salvation Army Depot I might action some festive gingerbread men.
I've already wrestled the covers off my ancient sofa and washed them and soon I'll begin the Unmitigated Hell of wrestling the huge cover back on. This is sure to end in tears. Sometimes I wish I just had an easy to clean leather sofa.
Meanwhile the council has actioned it's civic duty and put the giant tree up
The coverage in my view is Insufficient. I'm still loving orange:

Last night was the Coalface Masquerade Themed Christmas Do. the Coalface Social Committee did a great job (and I'm not saying that just because I'm on the Committee!). These are some refreshing French Martinis:
this was my mask:
Willow won a prize for her feather mask!
The Coalface Christmas decoration judging is Tuesday. My team has done an Impressive Job-we're about a 1/3 of the way through. It's incredible what you can action with a digital camera, a colour printer, tinsel, and a committed and focused staff.

Everyone is having their Christmas drinks parties. We went to the Tribune's during the week.
It was crowded and there were tonnes of Good things to buy
Never one to shy away from Self Gifting, I Ran didn't Walk when I saw this:
You know my views on beading (Committed Fan).
It's a 3.1 Philip Lim black caftany whatsy that has asymmetrical hem. It's a bit big (ok it is sort of giant) and I'll have to arrange for it to be tailored, but for a 1/3 of it's original retail price, who cares?
It'll look good for New Year's Eve I think.
Rain's made the mint go crazy.
Suits me.
the garden is wildly overgrown. Might action some pruning. Afer the cleaning and decluttering.
and on a Happy Note Baby Zsa Zsa recently turned 1 and is in Honkers hanging out with her boyfriend Nephew FF. She's en route to Hungary for Christmas. I miss the Zsa Zsa Clan already. They are lucky having a white Christmas. Because it is BOILING and HUMID here.

And to celebrate the 1st year of the Blog, we have chosen a Winner! Linda in Chile, our Person-On-the-Ground-in-South-America wins a Red Phoenix Necklace. Hooray! And thank you to everyone who commented/entered. The comments amused me no end. And I love reading them.
Happy Weekend People.

Orange

You know how I love orange flowers in my garden?

well, I'm thinking I'd like more of it inside my home as well. It's so bright and cheery. Look at this gorgeous tangerine drum table whatsy from Ada and Darcy (they are on my blog list thingy to the right). It's so attractive

I went for a sort of orangish outfit yesterday. I wore a frock from an el cheapo shoppe called Forecast. With some coral polish from Revlon. It's called Coral Me Wild.
I am obsessed with my 2 Red Phoenix Fuchsia necklaces worn together. I might wear them everyday this week.
Willow loves ruffle sleeves. When she saw this dress she made me laugh because she said "You know my views on a ruffled sleeve!!"
it looks pink here, but trust me, it's a bit orange in Real Life
and because the Coalface is Arctic in terms of freezing airconditioning I wore this tangerine pashmina. I got it in Honkers. From Stanley Markets. Gee I miss Honkers.
Remember these excellent shoes that my sister gave me last year?
well I wore them too. This isn't a good photo but you can get the gist
and because it is so rainy the Universe Directed me to make some comforting and soothing lemon risotto. So I did as I was told. Sorry Dr Atkins, but sometimes only Carbs will do.
Frankly, I am sick of the rain and don't get me started on how the humidity is ruining my 'do.
I am overwhelmed by the lovely and thoughtful comments left on the last post about the 1 year blogiversary. It's incredible to me that anyone apart from my family reads it. I still get excited when I get a new comment, so thank you. And I am amazed that some of you read all the archives!! The Commitment! It's kind of weird and flattering at the same time to know I am actually inspiring people to do stuff.... I promise to use my cyber influence for Good not Evil. Willow and I will draw a winner later this week, so feel free to comment to be in the running to get your mitts on a new fancy necklace.
