Down to the Wire!

Can you believe this election? I've been glued to the tv all night long at my Don's Party-esque barbecue (love it that so many of you know Don's Party!). Who knew it would have come to this nail biting finish? Who's going to win? I've been loving all the snarkiness between the panel members on channel 9. This is the most exciting thing in Australian politics in ages.

im tired and off to bed, looks like a hung parliament and no 'winners party' tonight( gees all those balloons and chilled champers gone to waste, shock horror!) we'll see how it all looks tomorrow.

  2. The govt electoral website has crashed apparently. I am not going to bed til they cease coverage. It's very Kennedy/Nixon New Govt for the 60s isn't it? Minus the alleged mob involvement and Jackie of course. So so 'citing!!!!!! I wonder who is going to win this thing?

  6. Thoroughly enjoyed nine's coverage. Boy they got stuck into Swan! Twitter #ausvotes was an amazing experience too. No Don' party here... just lamb shanks in the slow cooker and a night on the couch. Up at 6 now to make sense of it all. 613,000 informal votes. Hang your head in shame Australia. That's all I have to say. Now, the important stuff... must take off my very chipped Russian blue nail stuff. A-M xx

  7. Dear Ms FF, We were glued to the ABC live coverage too. Imagine a coalition government with balance of power pushing policy to the right in the lower house and the balance of power pushing policy to the left in the Senate. Too much for our small brains to contemplate. I made a raspberry slice which the little girls have demolished. I hope you have a lovely Sunday.

  8. It's going to be a fascinating historical week for sure. Channel 9 entertained til the final wee moments, though today's mutterings haven't so far offered the same value!

Now for some much needed guidance FF. Country gals off to Brisbane for Valentino and lunch. I need to know where to do lunch nearby? And what should the day outfit consist of for such a thing? I just knew you would be the person to ask! I promise to even update the nail colour the very night before!

    Cheers, Beck

  9. This is surely going to be an historical and fascinating week! Channel 9 was great value entertainment last night, had us tuned in until the last wee minute's coverage. The snide remarks compensated somewhat for desperately lacking fashion!

Speaking of which...am in need of some FF advice. Coupe of country gals off to the city of Brisvegas to soak some Valentino and a fabulous meal. Needing to know what one should wear for a daylight visit and where one should eat nearby?? I trust you implicitly FF and promise to go so far as to renew the polish on the eve of visit!!

    Cheers, Beck

  10. Who would have thought a Saturday night in front of the tele could be so exciting. Although it was the ABC for me. I loved watching even though it's done my head in completely.

  11. I went to bed all tight in the chest last night - I felt as though I was in some kind of sporty grand final thingy. Have to say Lisa on Ch9 looked particularly glam.

Now this morning I feel all deflated & don't know what to do with myself - can't believe we may have to wait days.....

  12. Good morning FF.
    RE baking:
Do you get "brownie" points if you were talking to your sister while she made the brownies?
Also, does it count if you call in to work and they have a bucket of self serve icing beside the fundraising cupcakes ( for RSPCA), and you just throw in $10 and eaat a cup full of ready made icing. Yumm.
That was it for me for cooking/baking for the week.

Election was "interesting" to say the least.

I love it up here in Townsville, so many people handing out How To Vote cards chat to each other regardless of political persuasion, and hand out the opposition's How To vote stuff if they have to leave their stand for any time.

    Cheers
    Louise

  16. Yes the lady on the end was in a very cross mood and was quite feisty. Gee those Abbot children are attractive.

    I wonder who'll form a government????

  18. Dear Faux Fuchsia, You will, I know, put me down as a complete Philistine when I admit to you, and all of your hundreds of 'Followers' to which I have added myself as number 600[!!], that I was, until now, completely unaware that Australia was in the middle of holding elections.

My excuse? First, I do not have a television and, secondly, most of my time is spent in Hungary, where I now am, and where things Australian are not widely reported in the press. Strange that!!
