I feel sad that Liz Taylor died. If you've been reading this blog for a while you know I was a big fan. I've got Elizabeth Taylor, The E True Hollywood Story on in the background. She was so so beautiful and such a survivor-an amazing combination. Not to mention super glamorous. I think her daughter was only 2 months old when Mike Todd was killed in that plane crash. Can you imagine? One of my favourite quotes is by her-"Now is the time for Guts". It can be applied to any situation. I 'spose I'll be drawing on those words in the next few months if this baby decides he's going to trip the light fantastic all night long and refuse to sleep....
Thank you for all of your lovely messages on my last post. Some of them made me downright teary they were so kind. My family and friends are always 11/10 but they have been amazing during this special time- so kind, so generous and so supportive and so loving. Tomorrow the Baby gets to meet his Number One Fan in the flesh, My Mum. She is a Superior Grandma in all respects and has loved getting daily photos and updates. I for one cannot wait.

Top Tip keep up the swaddling - stops them from bashing themselves in the face with those wavey arms. Happy to hear it is going so well for you.

ReplyDeleteWe are all so happy for you and Mr FF.
I for one am enjoying your photos because new footage of the Royal Danish twins is somewhat lacking and Rachel Zoe's son is not even in the competition in the cuteness stakes.
Take care

Gorgeous and adorable FF! There is nothing like adorable baby fingers and toes and the back of their little necks - oh happy memories! Your Mum must be so excited to meet her grandson - I cannot wait for that day to come and I keep telling my girls to get shift on or I will be too old to look after them all!!! This is such a precious time in all your lives - enjoy every second!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Liz's quote. That's a very centring, pull up you socks type comment. As you say, very applicable to any situation.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it's the close up, but I'm in awe of Baby FF's strong looking fingers. As others have mentioned- superior mitts.
I love that you are getting to experience so many new first time things with the arrival of your little treasure. It reminds me of how thrilling giving birth to my daughters was and has spurred me to reflect and revel in just how many new first time things I do have happening in my life.
Thanks for sharing FF.
Catherine
Dear Ms FF, I think it is the tininess and perfection of the fingers and toes that is so engaging. Was it lovely introducing Baby FF to his new home? I remember Mr LiC having to put the kettle on and make us a cup of tea after the excitement of it all! Yes, it was very sad about Elizabeth Taylor. I thought she was wonderful in 'Cat on a hot tin roof' and I understand that it was during the filming of this that she learned of the death of her then husband. She appeared to combine both fragility and strength. I feel that that era of glamour is almost all but past. Lovely to hear your mum is arriving - she is going to be that special person in Baby FF's heart that your Grandma is in yours. love Lindaxxx
ReplyDeleteAh, adorable. Congratulations. It has been lovely to read about your pregnancy journey and I'm sure this next stage will be even more exciting for you!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are really lovely, so nice to read such happiness!
ReplyDeleteDear FF welcome home!!!
ReplyDeleteYour son has superior fingers and toes.Seriously long elegant digits!
I totally agree swaddling is the key.Don't for one moment think it's not kind to babies, but it is! Babies are soothed by being restricted after all things were pretty squishy for 9 months.
Oh your Mum is going to be a godsend! I suspect she may have baby whisperer tendencies! L is going to make you supper including her super duper foccacia which is to die for.
Lots of love k

Where can I get my hands on Elizabeth Taylor, The E True Hollywood Story. I really want to watch it!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your beautiful baby!!
Hey congratulations to La Famille FF - those are superior fingers and toes! Love the Liz Taylor quote, I'll be using it to give me strength, from now on.
ReplyDeleteMy, those feet!
ReplyDeletePerfect for blowing rasberries.
Does your baby smell like heaven?
Thanks for sharing your special moments, I think we're lucky to be invited in.

Swaddling is the bees knees, keeps them in a nice little package and content.
ReplyDeleteSons are beautiful FF, they love their mama. I almost tear up when my 20+ boy tells me he loves me then gives me a big hug.
Enjoy your precious bub. Bet he smells divine.
xx
Excellent quote! Elizabeth Taylor really was one of a kind........ exquisitely beautiful and a true survivor. I know everyone will tell you this but do try to rest when the baby does as much as you can....love cocolini
ReplyDeleteYour Mother must be counting the minutes till she meets her adorable new grandson. His fingers and toes are perfection - so sweet. Such lovely photographs. Have a fantastic weekend. XX
ReplyDeleteLook at you the proud mum and why not! Love the pics of those little fingers and toes... I took similar pics of my son when he was a couple of weeks old and framed them in black & white - so cute. Enjoy having your Mum visit and fuss over you all. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh my, I always loved the episode of SATC where Charlotte miscarries but she gets the dog and puts on her big Elizabeth Taylor glasses and goes to the birthday party. It makes me tear up thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI must say, those are some of the cutest toes I've ever seen!
x
Am keen to know what moniker you will give "the baby" on the FF Blog ...
ReplyDeleteSon of Faux Fuschia is a bit unwieldy.
Baby may be suitable for a while, but he will outgrow it.
Can't wait to know what you will blog-name him as.
My main tip for you, which I'm sure you don't need - SLEEP NOW, while you can.
Aggie
A huge, huge congratulations to you and your beautiful little family FF.
ReplyDelete♥
Ah, doesn't he look like a wise little man already with his hands neatly folded. I wonder what he ponders.
ReplyDeleteVery happy for you and again, congratulations FF!
Stine
So, so, soo adorable!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you all. Grandma time is the best thing on this planet.
Oy, such cuteness. So happy for you and Mr. FF
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the safe arrival of your little baby boy. Wow you are now a Mummy !!! Lucky you. Am so happy for you ... and a little envious too. He looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteNik
As a superior Grandma myself I can only say when Grandma FF gets her hands on baby FF it will be special. There is nothing quite like holding your baby's baby for the first time. Despite being very grown up our babies are always our babies to us mums and to have grandchildren is a very special gift. x
ReplyDeleteHow 11/10 is FF baby more so than Rachel Zoe's as someone has wisely pointed out!
ReplyDeletethose fingers & toes are so luffly it makes me teary - gorgeousness in a swaddled bundle is the best xx
Baby FF has 11/10 gorgeous fingers and toes! Aren't those tiny little digits just the most amazing things??
ReplyDeleteMy son HATED being swaddled. (We used to call it the Baby Burrito.) He'd work out his hands and then kick his legs loose, and then lay on his back spread-eagled and happy as a clam.
Oh, and Elizabeth Taylor? An amazing woman and a true survivor. I'll have to look for that special, am sure they'll be running it frequently in upcoming weeks.
ReplyDeleteFF, Hope the Baby Whisperer has a ball with FF Jnr.
ReplyDeleteWill try and squeeze in a teensy phone call while she's there. But very short one.
You two are going to have so much fun together, and isn't your mum some sort of Magician at getting babies to sleep when they are supposed to?
Louise
The passing of Liz Taylor feels like the end of an era - not too many left like her. Joan Collins has written a wonderful piece about her in today's Daily Mail (dot co dot uk).
ReplyDeleteYour little boy's feet are so sweet, like sugar mice. Amazing really. Have the best time sharing him with your mum. xx
hi ff,
ReplyDeletehe is pure sweetness. omg, i remember coming home from the hospital with my boys and that moment of unwrapping them and thoroughly inspecting every inch. it's the most heavenly thing on earth.
thanks for liz's quote. i love it and i've never heard it before. i will put it into practice today.

What gorgeous baby toes and fingers. I bet your mum is on pins and needles waiting to see her baby grandson.
ReplyDeleteCliche or not those are the cutest fingers and toes I've seen in a long while. I think his fingers are longer than mine! Congrats and cherish all the time you get to sit and swaddle. Soon enough those boys wiggle away from you~
ReplyDeleteOh, how cute! Your beautiful son does have your fingers, FF. Those long superior fingers! You and MR. FF are so lucky and blessed!
ReplyDeleteHappy to see the return of nail polish, too!
V sad news about Liz. :-( My FIL was less than 10' away from her many years ago (40?) at a hotel in Germany. He said that from the moment she walked in, all eyes were on her. She was spellbinding, he said. And being that close to her, he said she was even more beautiful in person.
Hugs from Seattle
He's so beautiful. From top to toe. Your mother will be besotted, immediately. And should you be finding yourself at all teary, remember, hormones come and hormones go but sleep and the lack thereof brings us all to our knees.
ReplyDeleteEveryone will have an opinion about how you bring up this child. Human society can't help it. Go with your gut feelings. The only parts of babyhood I regret are the times when I let society tell me to be tough on my kids. I'm tenderhearted, and should have trusted my tender heart.
Women with tough hearts, should trust their tough hearts. I have been thinking of you, and hoping you'd come home, and were not facing "newborn panic." :) Sending love.
FF: you've got me in tears again, warn me!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures and iam so happy for you.
Congratulations on an all around superior baby boy! I am so very happy for you and for Mr. FF.
ReplyDeleteThe feet are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if will also post photos of Baby FF like you posted photos of Nephew FF - showing him from head to toe or do you prefer to keep your Baby lets say "anonymous"?
How is Mr FF? Does he dare to change the diapers yet?
Have a great time with your mum.
The tiny fingers and perfect nails of Baby FF make me want to weep with love for my own long ago babies. All grown up now and still perfect (!) but those first few moments, days and all the early years are still precious to me. I particularly melted at the sight and touch of their tiny elbows. Little more than a dimple but so heartbreakingly beautiful. I long to hold my new ( Australian) grandson who will be five months old when I do so on his European tour visiting his 'old country' forbears. Lucky BabyFF's grandmother who will hold him within days of his arrival. Keep well. Cx
ReplyDeleteFF,
ReplyDeleteSweet feet!
All the parenthood cliches are true I've found.
ReplyDeleteThe Liz Taylor quote is spot on!
We wrapped my daughter in an Egyptian Mummy style for months and months.
What a special day for you all with Grandma visiting. Enjoy!
Now you have made me teary. Such precious times, such wonderful memories being made.
ReplyDeleteOh that surreal feeling of bringing baby home! When I mentioned in my comment last week that such a special part of becoming a Mummy was watching your husband become a Daddy...I should also have included watching your Mum become Grandma! This will add a new dimension to that unique relationship you share with your Mum. A time in your lives to truly cherish, as I know you will. Take care, and keep listening to your mother-heart, it knows best. Love Beck xx
ReplyDeleteThose are divine little paws.
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to be home and it will be great to have your Mum around. Grandmas rock!
The first six weeks are a bit of a blur then it all pans out. Little walks in the sunshine work wonders for tired souls too.
Enjoy your precious little man x
How absolutely beautiful Baby Faux Fucshia (B.F.F.) is! Congratulations!!! And now the fun really begins :)

Baby's hands just inspire love don't they? And their feet just inspire amusement. Liz was amazing. She even conspired to bring a little joy to the joyless existence of the headline writer who was able to write: Liz late for her own funeral. Plus she had stacks left when she died, which shows she was no dill pickle. Love the fingers and toes. They certainly are not a cliche.
ReplyDeleteWish I had one of those little fellas to squeeze and cuddle.
ReplyDeleteLove his little singlet.
Oh, and your efforts to reapply the polish post haste has not gone unnoticed! I see a hint of pink on the nail of the thumb supporting that gorgeous squidgy baby foot! Well done! Beck x
ReplyDeleteFingers and toes to cute.
ReplyDeletesandyfish
He also has long elegant fingers like you.
ReplyDeleteIt's very sad about Elizabeth Taylor, I was a big fan too. I did a post about her ages ago and my blog went mental from Wednesday onwards.
I hope you're getting plenty of rest and everyone is waiting on you hand and foot. Love, C xx
PS. Mr FF won't thank me for this but I've thought of the perfect present for him to buy you... I blogged about them today - A Russell Young diamond dust screen print of Elizabeth Taylor - they come in pink and orange - it's got your name written all over it! xx
ReplyDeletesuch gorgeous little fingers and toes!!! Congrats again on your beautiful son :)
ReplyDeletewho knew little baby feet could be so cute and precious?!
ReplyDeletei can't wait to hear more about you to adjusting to life as a mum :)
