I am loving the sound of this rain on my tin roof sick.
The Universe out of Nowhere Spoke to Me today and Directed me to Bake. I did as I was told.
I re-jiggered a choc chip biscuit recipe and invented the following:
You cream 110g butter with 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup castor sugar and a slug of vanilla. Then you add a free range egg, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup flour and 1 cup of rolled oats that you have pulverised in your food processor. Add about a handful of white choc chips and a handful of milk chocolate chips and a pinch of maldon sea salt. Bake at 180 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes. They're like a cross between a common garden variety choc chip arrangement and an Anzac biscuit.
And they are Delicious. Make them. You won't be sorry.
Made some gremolata
to grace the top of my slow cooked osso bucco. Which is a braised veal on the bone dish. In case you're wondering.
Some People sneer at a braise but I'm not one of them. There's something very comforting about having a casserole that smells delicious slowly bubbling away in the kitchen when it's cold and wet.
And in other Exciting Developments, the Baby has taken to Standing like a Duck to Water.
Look:
He also takes pretty good photos, like this one of my shoe. Clearly his Talents Know No Bounds.
This is what we looked like a year ago.
I was going to draw the Fuchsia Jubilee Necklace giveaway today but I might wait til next week. Because the necklace is in training for the Olympics and doesn't want to be given away yet.
I see the Rolling Stones are 50. Remember how much I luffed Keef's autobiography? It was a cracking good read. I like listening to Tumbling Dice when I'm actioning domestic minutiae.
Watching Martha on Silk. She is 100% Fabulous.

The sight of Baby FF standing is to die for!! Just delicious!! And speaking of delicious - I'm so making those biccies on the weekend! thanks for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteIf I were you, I'd hold out on the FF Jubilee Necklace giveaway too - I hope you get to keep one too though!!
Oh FF those teeth on bubby boy are divine!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso love the look of those bikkies, will whip out my Kitchenaid devices tomorrow, double mixture and get the kids mixing. I also love creating different recipes, although it is usually caused by a dearth of ingredients in the pantry and an immediate need for a solution to feed the masses.
Good idea to let the necklace continue its sharp trajectory to ruling the world, who are we stalwarts to get in its way? Hope your week has settled down a bit, pressure from work is not nice :(

Snap! I love the teeth also, such a georgous smile! He looks so happy, just beautiful.
DeleteP xx
I love your blog! So cheery and funny! Great photos too. So enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteLook at how Baby FF's lips are just like his mother's. So cute. He's obviously just as clever as she is as well.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe the Stones are 50. A friend of mine owns a hotel in the Caribbean that Mick J often stays at. He has some great Jagger stories.
Love the orange necklace. Have you noticed that some of your fashion outfits are coordinating with your garden photos?
Baby ff's little toothy smile is beyond cute. He looks so chuffed at his superior standing skills.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recipe - perfect weather for baking! x
Oh, the Baby standing and looking so pleased about it too. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI did the unmentionable a couple of weeks ago and fell asleep watching Silk ( it may have been twice) is Martha no longer pregnant?
ReplyDeleteI too am a Stones lover, Exile on Main Street about my favourite album but I haven't read Keef's bio. I know...
BTW gorgeous roses what a colour!
SMR she is no longer pregnant. How could you fall asleep????
DeleteTumbling Dice lyrics were inspired by Mick's housekeeper in the USA who liked to gamble with dice. I don't know if she was called Consuela. x
I know, I know sofa plus blanket plus horizontal equals sleep.
DeleteI agree that doco about Exile on Main Street is the best!
Baby FF looks like he has mastered the heart melting smile, along with standing.
ReplyDeleteMartha is marvellous.
Faux, what are your views on Australian magazine, Women's Day, showing photos of Kate and William's honeymoon, has caused quite a stir here in good old blighty I tell you!
ReplyDeleteThey have also dragged up that it was Aussie media who spilled the beans about Harry being in Afghanistan too, so he had to be extracted quick smart.
Think there are rumbles of antipodean disloyalty being bandied about which is grim. Faux for PM I say.
I'm glad they published them because I wanted to see them.
DeleteWills and Kate can't be too precious. They should be stoic and suck it up.
And I say that as a Kate and Wills Fan.
I love the Royals but Australians are the very best people on earth so you can understand what side I am on.
Loyalty is Key.
There is so much sadness in the world - look at the riots in Spain- so with some perspective I'm sure Kate and W will move on and get over it and focus on something else etc xxxx
**Applause** Well said!
DeleteTracy.
Cuute!
ReplyDeleteI love your colorful ouftfits! Looks great... and you are a true domestic goddess. How old is the Baby? He is so cute! Love his outfits too. Mine is 18 month now. Watch her here in my parents garden in germany: http://www.greenpinkorange.com/2012/07/in-garden.html
ReplyDeleteXO
he is 15 months, am going to your baby in the garden thing now x
DeleteFF my baby girl is 14 months. What adorable little people they are. I must say FF baby looks beyond delighted at his new skill. Straight to the CV that one! Next time I have EngineerBaby around the locale I'll keep an eye out.
DeleteRosana/EngineerMum
next thing you know he'll be asking for the keys to the car. it goes that fast! enjoy every minute.
ReplyDeletetumbling dice, one of my all time favorite songs. xo
I luff it. The Exile of Main St doco never gets tired. xxx
DeleteI want some some osso bucco...with some mashed potatoes..It has been raining like mad here in Florida. I love your little boy looking all warm and cozy in his winter wear. My son was the best dressed little boy in Florida and it looks like yours is the best dressed in Australia. How is my necklace ? Are you keeping it warm around your neck in that chilly weather ?
ReplyDeleteLaughed out loud at that last sentence.
DeleteMy baby is indeed the best dressed baby in this city. Why he is not appearing on those lists in the Sunday papers announcing the best dressed people in the state is beyond me. I mean he mixes his French Bon point cashmere stuff with colourful Ralph Lauren and cheerful knits and always looks stunning....the woman who compiles the list is clearly not aware of what's what with the under 2 set.
That standing baby is too cute! Hope you're keeping warm and feeling better x
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hire baby FF as my stylist. I hate all my clothes just now and feel bleach in 70 percent of them - having a massive ruthless clear out this weekend?
ReplyDeleteI wish my roof was tin, it's horsehair yes! And ye olde slate tiles which are giving up the ghost. The cost to replace it as a conservation job is twice what the house is worth, pass the bucket.
My roof is really actually corrugated iron but makes a tin like sound in the rain that I love. Good luck with the tiles.
DeleteLuff your necklaces 11/10! Baby FF is a Biped!!! Exciting times.
ReplyDeleteBaby FF has the most adorable smile. Love the look of that Osso Bucco, I had to action a Goulash last night - in the middle of July!!
ReplyDeleteBaby FF looks quite pleased to be standing up on his own...
ReplyDeleteI think his smile is very much like yours.
Does he look more like you or Mr. FF?
He looks like both of us. When he was born he was v much like Old Mr FF but he has my eyes and my smile but spookily is also like Mr FF.
DeleteHe is a very happy smiley baby x
And by the looks of it a dry baby. At that age my son was a real dribble puss. Double bibbing at all times. I think they came off on the first day of priamry school !
DeleteHi FF,
ReplyDeleteOn your recommendation I bought the first season of Silk on iTunes - and promptly blew through it in about 4 (work) days. Now I am waiting impatiently for the next season to become available. I LUFF Martha.
I also luff how pleased with himself Baby FF is about standing up all by himself. HIs toothy little smile is gorgeous!
Buphee

Bupheeeee!!!!!!!!!
DeleteI miss you.
Silk is the Best. Martha is amazing in every respect. Wait until season 2!! Meanwhile THIS LIFE is on foxtel on UK tv and I am watching Anna drink Soave and re-living the 1998 magic of watching it with you.
You should come and visit soon x
I miss you too! And I miss This Life - I keep trying to explain it to people, especially now that Egg is Sheriff Rick in The Walking Dead and Miles is in some other show. It's like a tv equivalent of 'I knew them when...'.
DeleteB
xxxxx
Ooh I loved This Life, I even bought the book!! I can still tear up when I think of the last episode, where Egg finds out about Milly's affair.
DeleteOk I don't spend my whole life watching ABC tv!
Thanks for the weather report - My husband has a guy from Australia visiting this week. It's around 100C here, and I told him it might be a nice change for him to be warm for a change. Husband said he thought Summer in Australia would be pretty hot. I set him straight by telling him, Would FF be gardening in a cashmere beret if it wasn't very cold there? Now his whole office and the client thinks he's brilliant (he is!), since he greeted him with some variation of "Aren't you glad to be warm for a change?"
ReplyDeleteI love his little smile! Enjoy the rain and getting cozy. I miss it sometimes during the long summer.. Your necklace is really pretty with all colors!

Young Mr FF is a cutie, so coordinated too. Loving the orange outfit too.
ReplyDeleteHope the Olympic training is going well, not long now xx
Look at that clever baby. How time flies.
ReplyDeleteTDM xx
I do love a good chic chip biscuit. And yours sound very nice!
ReplyDeleteThat OB looks delicious...I'm inspired to try and source veal in these spartan parts of the land and whip some up. Love how pumped the Bebe is with his efforts, so sweet. My Maisie is at the same stage and I love it. Go well with your gardening this weekend.
ReplyDeleteMorning FF. Baby standing is sooo cute. And he looks rather chuffed with himself to boot. Watched Silk for the first time last night (I'm a joiner too albeit a rather slow one) and I can see what the fuss is about. It's in the calendar for next week. Am in search of a necklace to drive my children to the most isolated, and barren parts of the city for their weekend sporing commitments - any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteLove the Baby! I know you don't want to show his face but I do wish I could see all of him. He is so proud of himself for standing, wait till he's walking (probably in a few days!). Also quite like your studded flats, very chic.
ReplyDeleteFeeling a bit nostalgic about Babies at the moment, as both mine have flown out the door to go to work tonight, leaving me alone for dinner again :-( teenagers.........
Although at least the dog is here! And hubs will be home from business trip tomorrow.
The people who sneer at a braise would be quite hungry on The Farm.
ReplyDeleteI was inspired by you yesterday whilst shopping in Perth - when I saw a pair of pastel pinky coloured jeans, I bought them. I will post as to how they go. (I am trying to add more colour to my very neutral wardrobe....)
Baby FF is such a clever thing to be standing so beautifully. He looks poised ready to take his first step at any moment. Bless.
xx
Baby FF looks sooooo gorgeous (just like his Mum!)
ReplyDeleteStill loving your blog sick, FF - still the 1st thing I Google every morning. Just find it difficult to find a moment of quiet to form a thought, to comment... Like right now! How my beautiful children LOVE to talk... non-stop!
LOVE your outfit above - the orange, the Missoni (?) - so good!
Oh yes, and love LOVE, rain on our tin roof too - talk about soothing and comforting
Thanks for the insights into your bright, interesting, inspirational, clever, entertaining, beautiful world
La
We have the same pink studded flats as photographed by the now upright baby. First steps are getting close, will that be time to rearrange some things arounds the F-dome? I've placed the biscuits on my to do list, they look the business. Happy friday!
ReplyDeleteLook at that gorgeous smile on Baby FF. It looks exactly like yours. Love the shot of the shoe as well. Clearly he has his priorities right C xo
ReplyDeleteThose biscuits look delicious......perfect for school lunch boxes or ladies afternoon teas. And I'm sure they're healthy seeing that the main ingredient is oats?! Oats must also negate the calories in the butter, 2 kinds of sugar and milk chocolate? Am going to cook them this weekend. Rx
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of the necklace but would it be happy in suburbs for this is where I dwell? I am not sure what gremolata is but it looks super tasty and like something that I would like. Baby FF is so sweet - I adore all babies even my big ones on certain days especially when they're not driving my car when I need it!!!
ReplyDeleteThose roses are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI baked Nigella's chocolate peanut butter cheesecake yesterday (from Kitchen) it was very yummy - highly recommend the recipe :)
May I move in? Please? Your home is so comforting!
ReplyDeleteYour proud baby is just too cute ; his smile reminds me of Prince William's as a baby (big fan !). Isn't it funny that you and us are having the same weather while living in totally oppposed corners of the world (well, I don't know if everybody here would agree on the word "funny" !). Keep sending us some colours, please !xx
ReplyDeleteDear Ms FF, I always feel better when I read your posts - possibly doctors should prescribe them! I was Outraged to hear that there are people who poohpooh braises. Really? They cannot have souls (possibly too few carbohydrates too!). I loved seeing Toddler FF on his pins - before you know it he'll be circling a coffee table and then it will be captaining Australia! Can't wait! love Lindaxxx
ReplyDeleteBaby FF is just so adorable. I love his little smile. I imagine that he looks quite a lot like you :)
ReplyDeleteI fully support your love of a good braise. These sort of meals are part of winter in Melbourne that I always look forward to. Whenever I mention I'm making something like this, my Boy scrunches his nose up and as much as says "eww". Once it's dished up, he's always the one returning for seconds though *laughs*.
