The FF garden is behaving itself. Look at this attractive orange
hippeastrum. And my lovely pale pink geranium is pretty too. This was definitely a cutting from my late Grandma's garden. It's almost 5 months since she died. I still think about her every day. I miss her. There's so much I'd like to talk to her about.

Look at all these little aloe
vera plantlets that have miraculously sprung up. Talk about clever.

I have the worst flu ever Dammit! Aching muscles, sneezing like a maniac, coughing...you get the picture. Glamorous it isn't. I hope I get better pronto. Someone asked me if Mr FF cooks- he does and he is an excellent cook (there are photos of him on this blog cooking) but he works long hours, so during the week I usually action the meals. Which suits me because I love to cook and find all that chopping and stirring soothing and comforting. Someone also asked about my makeup. Dr G ("Dermatologist to the Stars") once told me that
Clinique oil free foundation and powder was
ok so I use that. Isn't this week going fast? My friend Willow was wondering where everyone who regularly comments on the blog lives? I wonder that too. I like looking at the cities that pop up on the
feedjit thingy at the bottom of the blog.

PS Edited to add- An eagle eyed
civilian spotted Mr FF and me In Real Life yesterday. Read about it
here Mr FF denies the use of a gaudy tie.
Well I'm in Scotland and I've just put my garden to bed for the winter so it's so uplifting to see your garden in bloom. Oh and I have ten years on you. I was my mum's mistake child - there's 20 years plus between me and my siblings!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a regular commenter, but Victoria, Australia represent!
ReplyDeleteSydney!
ReplyDeleteTabitha you look ridiculously young. Well done.
ReplyDeleteHi Nessa knits and Sheri- I suspect the bulk of readers are from the east coast of Australia.
one hour south of your abode - will most probably move up your way once i start working.
ReplyDeletei also use clinique, i've found it is the best for my skin. it's so light it's almost like not wearing any makeup at all.
beautiful flowers - roses make me feel the same way about my late grandpa. x
The GOOD WIFE back on , almost missed it!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say I love your Salmon Pate Recipe and ACTION it all the time x x
M
FF you get a mention in Fun and VJ's blogspot tonight, very funny !!
ReplyDeleteM x
I don't use foundation. I tried clinique moisturiser once, it gave me pimples. I sometimes put some concealer under my eyes if I look tired.
ReplyDeleteFF is very good at putting on makeup, coming from someone who has hung out with her in the flesh. I wish I could do it like that but I can't so I usually avoid.
We had steak with gorgonzola sauce for dinner FF.
XX
Cairns, well at the moment, I started e-stalking your blog whilst in Alice Springs, and will be trekking it to Papua New Guinea during the next 12 months for a work contract. So I will appear in your feedjit thingy from PNG!
ReplyDeleteTownsville of course.
ReplyDeleteWoof!
Oops, sorry, I forgot, I'm not supposed to do the puppy thing any more, even though puppies make you feel wonderful when you have the flue.
Are you impressed I guessed Optiko for Mr FF's glasses?
Louise

Sophie at your age you can get away with anything- at my age well, admin is necessary! Dinner sounds lovely xxxxxxxxxxx
Get better soon and am amused by your sighting. The gaudy tie rumour needs to be squashed - get your PR peeps onto it!
ReplyDeleteI'm hanging out on the streets of your town!! My 6yo is currently wearing OPI La Pazitively Hot on her tootsies, a la FF, after her mini-pedicure on this week's Student Free Day!
ReplyDeleteMake Do- Mr FF is very sensitive re his sartorial choices!
ReplyDeleteLouise you are an eyewear genius- how'd you know it was Optiko???????
Do come and visit me soon down here. Do NOT bring a puppy! x

ReplyDeleteYou have been spotted and we never see your face! How famous do you feel? It was a very funny read.... I'm a Brisbane blogger on the North side. Hope you are feeling better soon. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read through all your blog, as I just found you last week.
ReplyDeleteBut I am loving it so far.
I am from Australia, and living in Qatar (middle east) at the moment.
I look forward to your new posts each day :-)
Hi Louie-welcome and thankyou!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny- hope I feel better soon too- the flu is No Picnic.
Hello! I've just discovered your fabulous blog via Fun & VJ's (she has fabulous taste apparently!) I'm from Brisbane - not too far from the Walter Taylor Bridge I'd define it! Get well soon. I recently had a curl up and die flu, so my sympathies. x Sonia
ReplyDeleteFF,
ReplyDeleteI like to say I live in the NYC area, 7 miles away as the birds fly. Truth is, I actually live in New Jersey very near those famous Bravo Housewives of New Jersey. Living in Montclair, one town over from me, is a Fox celebrity named Wendy Williams. I adore her! Have you seen her show? It's 11/10!
Because I live so close to NYC, there are all kinds of celebs living in this area. You can spot them all around the shops and restaurants. Love that!
Happy Wednesday...hope you feel better soon. It's no fun dressing up, gardening and cooking when you're under the weather and can't enjoy it fully.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Nebraska in the US - if you're ever in the neighborhood...
Take care of yourself! :)
Newcastle - the steel city.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon FF :)
Is the good wife on in the states?? It's about 3 months untill we get over here, i'm super excited about it!! I'm in Liverpool, uk, and my garden has also been put to bed for the winter :( But i LOVE autum, halloween, bonfire night, darling son's birthday and christmas to prepare for :)
ReplyDeleteI live in a small suburb outside Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Feel better, FF! And old friend used to swear by espresso and brandy as a remedy for the flu.
ReplyDeleteHi from Israel. A real oven today. You're not too fond of winter, could you please send it my way? I love it with all my heart. Except for the flu. Hope you get better soon. My Mom and my son are both down with the flu this week :(
ReplyDeleteDear Ms FF, I am sorry to hear that you have the 'flu. I hope that you dose yourself with your chicken soup and get well soon. It is lovely to get back from a hard day at the coalface here and find a brand new post with lots of pictures of your garden. While I am sure that there are lovely gardens behind all the Jerusalem stone walls, the trees on the sidse of the street look very sorry for themselves here. I laughed to see a eucalyptus right next to the hotel. We Australians, flora and human fauna are everywhere...
ReplyDeletehi ff,
ReplyDeletesorry about the flu. take care and rest, rest, rest. that's what your grandmother would say for sure.
garden looks wonderful too. mr ff would never do gaudy.
i live in southern california and i just realized that i am 15 years older than you.
how can that be?
j
Hello, hope you are feeling well soon. I check in on your blog every day from Petaluma, CA.
ReplyDelete....thesmom
I am awake at 3.52am and can't sleep dammit. Isreal! Ohio! so interesting where people are from!
ReplyDeleteFlu has morphed to a terrible cough.....
Dear FF, sorry to hear about flu and cough, take care of yourself, i wish you better really soon XX
ReplyDeleteff - i'm so sorry you are this ill. you must be very careful and drink lots and lots of fluids. read something terribly boring until your eyes shut and call in sick. force fluids! this is what a vegan would do. that and not eat meat.
ReplyDelete~j
ps - i'm home all day today.
Sydney...and do tell Mr FF his fans would never describe him (or his fab choice in ties)as gaudy! Get him a blog toot sweet x
ReplyDeleteYes, get better soon FF. I've just been off work for a month with flu - not kidding. Pam from York, UK.
ReplyDeleteDear FF, I am so sorry that you are decidedly under the weather. And, I do so hope that these cheery flowers in bloom in your garden are helping to lift your spirits.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to know that Mr FF can cook. I do not hold with men being incapable of carrying out household chores.
LOVE your blog FF from down here in Melbourne. It's the first thing I read after I boot up my computer at work, so "soothing!" I used to use Clinique too until I was sucked into trying Chanel (they're new Vitalumiere Aqua is brilliant for hot days) and now can't go back! Keep blogging, FF, you had me worried there for a while you were going to throw int he towel.
ReplyDeleteHi FF, hope you get over your flu soon. I live in Budapest, born in Scotland but will return to Canada (Ottawa) next summer. Talking about celebs, right now we have The Brange in Budapest - I haven't seen them, but a friend's husband swears he saw the back of Brad Pitt's head in the new Nobu last weekend. Also, the kids go to school about a 10-minute walk from my house. Another friend lives even closer and we are contemplating nonchalently strolling by sometime, to check out the paparazzi if nothing else!
ReplyDeleteChicken soup, Lemsip and LOTS of rest FF. Can you possibly avoid work till next week?
ReplyDeleteSo funny about the sighting.
OK so this story tells me to fess up. Last month I'm pretty sure I spotted you one lunchtime in the city (no-one else in Brisbane owns such exquisite blonde locks) but was literally running back to my car parked up on the Tce before the parking nazi hit me with a ticket.
So yes this town is small.
Get well
xx
Hi FF-I think I shall re-name you " the blonde Nigella" (FFigella?), since your meals are so superior.Last night I served your pork chop/ginger marmalade/mango chutney contraption, and it was very well received by all! And so reasonably priced- the chops were around $6.00 for 2 in Woolworths- thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteHope the Flu is gone by the weekend for you.xx
(Btw just south of Sydney)
From you photos it looks like you are having nice sunny spring weather. Maybe you need to take a day off and spend it convalescing in the sun in your garden.
ReplyDeleteIt's raining and gray here. The big red bows on the 4 dwarf citrus trees that I had delivered to my beau for his birthday today got drenched. I think that he was expecting a nice vintage watch or cufflinks...and no, he got trees!
Feel better.
My Nanna passed away last year and I have so many clippings from her garden now flourishing in mine. It's so special and keeps her here with me. Grandmas and Geraniums are FABULOUS.
ReplyDeleteFeel Better Soon!
Oh, FF, get well soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading from Minneapolis, MN AKA the Frozen Tundra of the North.
Get well soon, FF!!
ReplyDeleteSSG xxx
Do hope you are feeling a lot better today. It must be miserable. The garden looks beautiful and the pink geranium is especially gorgeous. Mr FF - gaudy? Never! (but the blog article is quite funny!!) x
ReplyDeleteOh no, not the cough. I have been intimately acquainted with mine since February. It is so 'unladylike'... incessant barking. You need to take your own advice, drink soothing chicken refreshments and rest your weary bones. Get well soon. A-M xx PS was over your side of town this morning at the wesley... that new toll bridge has changed my life. I can almost pretend that I live in Paddington, Red Hill, Auchenflower, Bardon now. Heck, Toowong Village is now just 'down the road'. I am a Southsider only by force, against my will (due to the school).
ReplyDeleteDear FF
ReplyDeleteso sorry you're not well - I hope you recover soon. Your garden is looking nice.
Happy Friday! :)
Get well FF! Regards from sunny but cold Belgrade, Serbia
ReplyDeleteThankyou for sharing your gardening pics as always. I have those same orange flowers at the moment, about 15 of them. And with the recent rains in south east queensland, the stems are about a metre long.....much longer than any other years of recent. I don't know from the picture of yours, but the flowers look very similar to mine. They are smaller than an hippeastrum (but only slight) but I think that they are more a lily of some type. As the foliage of mine are more like a belladonna lily, the strappy leaf goes to more of a point than the hippeastrum foliage. Anyway, enough of my ramble. I should take a photo of mine tomorrow (if they are not shrivelled) and see if I can identify them better.
ReplyDeleteI do also have hippeastrums and they are such a bold, commanding flower. A little bit old fashioned, but a lot loved! :)
Get well soon.
I live in Gympie. Where some little pieces of gold are dug from the dirt to shine -- and where some of us, go back to hide under a rock.
Another Novocastrian (i.e. from Newcastle, Australia). Get better soon FF- sounds like you need Mr FF to action some chicken soup!
