Yum Cha and Other Things

We took the Baby to his Inaugural Yum Cha Lunch the other day in China Town. He was what can only be described as a Big Hit with the staff. Some people dislike yum cha. I'm not one of them. In Honkers they call it Dim Sum. Why I don't know. I'm not sure what those sesame thingamies are called but Reader, they were delicious and I ate them.

Jasmine's still going strong

And in exciting news apparently Shane's popped the question and he and Liz are getting married! Or so the tabloids say. Can't wait to see the wedding photos in Hello.

Have you been following the Craig Thomson credit card story? It was the lead story on all the news and talk shows today. I wonder how it will all end. If you live overseas you can read about it here.

My days as a stay at home mother have a nice rhythm. The baby and I go walking. We meet my girlfriends for coffee and lunch. I garden. I read. I action domestic activities like washing and cleaning and I cook things. I crochet. I declutter. It's all very relaxing and soothing. Everyone always asks what this lippie is. It's MAC's Viva Glam 2.

This YSL frock arrangement's been good to me.

And it's not a bad match with ye olde Missoni cardy and my Red Phoenix Necklaces. This is my new favourite bangle. It cost $1.80 and I wear it every day. Prepare to get sick of the sight of it.

Behold the Magnificence of the Baby is his white cardy with a built in hood courtesy of Miss Kitty Cat. I love it!

I know. Beyond adorable. Those Bonpoint strides've been good to him.

I love love love meeting my girlfriends for lunch for a good old catch up. This was at Barracks. They have excellent parents-with-prams-parking options.

And look at what my lovely friends have given me:

Babysitting vouchers!!!! For up to 4 hours per voucher! Valid til he is 18 years old!!!! I luff this idea 11/10. In other happy news, remember this frock I sourced in Soho in Honkers in November 2010??

Well I wore it today. Look:

and I shoved this Jackie Kennedy brooch whatsy on my shoulder. Because that's just how I roll.

I love these Miu Miu shoes. I got them from Jean Brown back in the day.

Tonight I caramelised some leeks. Just because. They're nice with roast chicken. Or fish. Or anything really. This is the Magic of Leeks People.

Remember how my childhood neighbour found me through the blog? Here I am with her in December 1976. I was 4, she was 5. I'm on the left.

She's meeting my sister in Honkers tonight for dinner! I wish I could be there. Here's a photo of them in 1976:

I'm still decluttering like mad and am back on a 1st name basis with everyone at the Salvation Army Depot. Getting rid of stuff you don't need is so good for the soul.

Beautiful Day.

Today was so lovely for lots of different reasons. I met my girlfriends for lunch for a Good Old Catchup. Some people would've been calorie conscious and ordered salads. We did not.

I wore a Chloe shirt and channeled Yankee Doodle to a point and struck a feather on my cardy.
As opposed to my hat.

I wore Opi's strawberry margarita which I luff but by God it is quick to chip.

You know how I want that bugaboo bee Missoni hood and matching baby blanket? Well to see if I'm making the right decision I tried this scientific experiment:

Luckily for me the baby looks STUNNING, STUNNING I TELL YOU in Missoni knitwear. With God as my Witness I will get my mitts on that limited edition hood arrangment.

Meanwhile, The FF Garden is a bit neglected.

But at least a few old stalwarts are still performing to a sort of high standard.

I will definitely be using these leaves as faux lily pads on top of green jelly with freddo frogs for the baby when he is older.

I actioned some miscellaneous concertina file decluttering recently. I felt like I'd scaled Everest. Really. Why is it that decluttering is so empowering?

It appears to be cocktail hour, and I'm a joiner, so Cheerio.

Hermes Orange.

Remember how I searched for this Orangetastic Hermes scarf in London and Honkers only to find it locally in the end? Anyway, it was a bit rainy and freezing last night, so I threw it on a la Maitai and hoofed it to dinner
I wanted a matching necklace so Willow and Lotus actioned me this one. It's Orangetastic too.

I took my new boots for a spin. Handy since there were puddles galore.

In the Spirit of Family Matching-ness, the baby got gussied up in Petit Bateau orange too.

and we actioned a soothing cosy dinner at the Continental Cafe. With some Calming Shiraz.

I always order the same thing. The chicken with the coconut rice.

and Old Mr FF does too (Vegetarians and Offal Haters Look Away RIGHT THIS SECOND)

Because he has the lamb's fry. Which is liver. And Delicious. With bacon.

The baby's behaviour was perfect. I was so proud. This morning we felt a bit Parisian, so we went to this super cute Patisserie for breakfast.

You know how Pucci is the Official Print of this Blog? Well look what Kerrie Ann was frocked up in today:

I can't tell whether it's genuine Pucci or Fucci, but it looks good.

Tonight I'll be having some steak and frite. This little darling's been marinading all day long.

You know how I can sleep well at night knowing I have a well stocked freezer for emergency meal situations?

Well Susan Austin's written a book dedicated to freezer meals!!!!! It's called Frost Bite!

I can't wait to action some of these soups

She even gives you instructions on how to defrost your meals!

I am loving this cooler weather.

Wonder what the Middletons are up to?

General Miscellania

Something happened today that was so weird and so unusual that I'm expecting the 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse to ride into town. People- Prepare yourselves Emotionally. Because we are Through the Looking Glass Here.
Today I actioned a day time sleep.
I know. I'm shocked too. What can I say?
I was tired.
This is the Garden's lone rose. There was an abundance of Black Spot wreaking havoc dammit.
Meanwhile I am busy stocking the freezer with handy meals that can be eaten with one hand. Behold the Magnificence of my slow cooker endeavours:
I am loving my slow cooker sick. It only cost me about $20. I've made beef curry, osso bucco, a Spanish-esque chicken casserole that my Mum made us as kids and soups. Might action a Thai green curry tomorrow. Just because. Tabitha asked who taught me to cook. Well Mum did and then my Aunt really skilled me up- she is the best cook ever and taught me really tricky things. I used to love poring over all her cookbooks. I think it's weird that so many kids these days aren't taught to cook. I wonder why?
This morning I was directed by the Universe to whip up some sweet breakfast rolls. If you are doing a low carb low GI or low sugar diet you might want to skip the next few photos. You've been warned.
Hello Sugary Buttery Carbolicious Goodness.
Thank God for garden colour delivered via cordylines

Every day this week I've met my girlfriends for lunch or brunch. I have noticed that there are millions of people out there who aren't at work who are hanging out brunching mid week too. Who knew?
I actioned a bun and stuck a white flower whatsy in it.
I was in a shop and 2 extremely glam and well dressed ladies who I think might have been in their 70s with professionally blow dried hair told me they loved my frock and shoes. They made my day!
I am about to sit down and read these:
look how nice the sky looked tonight-
And how cute is this wondersuit????
Wore this on Monday
and on Monday night I went to my favourite place to eat Montrachet with 2 of my favourite girls in the world where I ordered the same things I always do.
Brains.
Crab souffle
and creme brulee
and this was me yesterday.
I found this photo of me taken in about June 2010. I remember it was freezing. I love the beach at dusk. I appear to be wearing what can only be described as a beret.
Prince William's coming to Queensland. I hope I get to see him.
Nothing else to report.
